Job Description:

The Senior Piping Designer will work closely with our engineers and technicians on a wide range of greenfield and brownfield projects and will be responsible for preparing drawings, specifications and other technical documents, as well as ensuring quality service and positive relations with internal and external clients. In addition, the Senior Designer will create 3D design modelling and prepare drawings. As a senior member of the team, the successful candidate will provide ongoing coaching and mentorship to junior team members. The Senior Designer can also expect to:

  • Complete layout design and 3D modelling of piping, equipment and secondary steel
  • Prepare 2D layouts using AutoCAD
  • Prepare design plans and specifications
  • Participate in deliverables for engineering design
  • Carry out other technical duties to support project delivery
  • Perform routine inspections or technical surveys
  • Participate in creating mass and energy balances using simulation software
  • Select and size piping related process equipment
  • Help prepare proposals
  • Provide leadership in the development and growth of the Vancouver piping design team
  • Create and design P&IDs
  • Perform calculations required to design piping and pumping systems


Requirements:

  • College Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology or related degree
  • 8 to 12 years of relevant experience, preferably in a consulting environment
  • Knowledge of Cadworx, 3D, Revit, Navisworks, Solidworks, SmartPlant (Asset)
  • Very good knowledge of IT applications, databases and interfaces such as Autocad, AFT Fathom and MS Office
  • Strong knowledge of P&ID standards in addition to strong appetite for mechanical design concepts would be considered an asset
  • Ability to travel and do site work, where required
