Job Description

As the Yard Support & Forklift Team Lead, you will be working alongside our Logistics Technicians, providing day-to-day leadership and guidance. Additional responsibilities include loading boats onto trailers for transport, assembling trailers, yard organization & maintenance. Regular use of an overhead hoist and operating forklifts. This position is year-round and is largely based outdoors.

What will you do?

Team Lead Specific (20% of time allocation)

  • Provide leadership necessary to ensure that all product is shipped out in a profitable manner, meeting all legal load restrictions while maintaining prescribed standards for safety.
  • Ensure the Logistics team is following all required safety procedures.
  • Report any unsafe conditions or act to the supervisor, Human Resources, or Operations Manager.
  • Establish goals for each task assigned.
  • Ensure the working environment is organized, safe, and in a professional manner.
  • Ensure tools are available and in good working condition as required to fulfill job duties.
  • Monitor the quality of work performed by the team.
  • Train staff on skills and processes required to meet production standards.

Logistics Specific (80% of time allocation)

  • Arrange and assist with all outgoing logistics including:
  1. Load boats onto assigned trailers and perform QC inspections as outlined.
  2. Load completed boat/trailer units onto transport trucks as designated.
  3. Complete transport documentation as outlined by company procedure.
  • Manage Trailer inventory and storage:
  1. Management of trailer assembly to meet specifications.
  2. Ensure safe unloading and movement of trailer stacks.
  3. Ensure the trailer build schedule is followed to meet production.
  4. Ensure proper tagging and allocation of designated trailers.
  • Perform light facility and yard maintenance duties including:
  1. General cleaning of yard and surrounding area.
  2. Ensure the yard is in safe condition for all weather conditions.
  3. Maintain yard organization by ensuring all products are placed in a tidy manner.
  • Respond to radio calls for requests to move items.
  • Transport hulls, hull kits, parts, and other items around the facility between departments.
  • Unloading trucks with incoming and outgoing freight as requested.
  • Safely operate forklifts and overhead cranes/chain hoists as required.
  • Responsible for specified facility lockup.
  • Other duties as requested.
  • Follow all applicable KingFisher Boats and WorkSafeBC Occupational Health & Safety regulations.

  • Previous shipping/logistics experience is an asset.
  • Previous leadership of teams is required.
  • On the job training is provided.
  • Forklift experience/certification is an asset.
  • Ability to complete tasks of a physically demanding nature.
  • High attention to detail is required to achieve quality standards.

Working Conditions

  • Year-round outside work.
  • Regular periods during which there is continuous physical effort is required, e.g., walking, standing, stooping, climbing, lifting material or equipment, some of which may be heavy or awkward.
  • Exposure to factors such as temperature variations, fumes, moving machinery, humidity, toxic materials which may cause periods of discomfort, high noise levels.
  • Frequent need to give concentrated attention, either hearing or seeing to work being performed.
  • Noticeable pressure from deadlines, production quotas, accuracy or similar demands exists.

Schedule/Shifts

  • Monday to Friday, 6:00 am to 2:30 pm
