About the role

We are recruiting to fill an Air Combat System Officer (ACSO)/ Airborne Electronic Sensor Operator (AES Op) training Subject Matter Expert (SME) role to help build our Courseware Development team for our Air Environment Programs. The successful candidate will play a significant role in building the development team, driving training, courseware design and development efforts through the transition-in period of future air programs. The candidate will function in a fast paced, dynamic environment working with the Courseware Development sub-Integrated Product Team (IPT) supporting the overall Training IPT. The right candidate will be poised to transition into a leadership role during the development period.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop an understanding of future air program structure, goals, and priorities
  • Assist in building the air environment courseware team consisting of up to 20 Instructional System Designers, Courseware Developers, Multimedia Developers and Game Engine Programmers among others
  • Act as a rear sensor & combat operator training SME
  • Execute an AGILE development approach with other site courseware development teams and Program level leads to ensure successful courseware development & integration across the program
  • Collaborate with Training System Design team to analyze, design and develop air environment foundational training documents such as Training Needs, Media Analyses, Courseware Development, Acceptance Plans and Training Plans
  • Ensure courseware development adheres to approved training plans & courseware style guides
  • Work closely with customer stakeholders to ensure courseware is suitable and fit-for-purpose throughout the development process
  • Identify and act on opportunities for continuous improvement throughout the life of the program
  • Maintain proficiency with enterprise development tool suite
  • Support Diversity & Inclusion in day-to-day activities
  • Work with minimal supervision following common company processes
  • Be the driving force championing modern, iterative development processes for the courseware development team, reviewers, and stakeholders utilizing an AGILE approach.

What you bring to the role

  • Diploma from a recognized school or military/civilian training with 5-7 years of professional experience
  • Recent Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) experience in an ACSO or AES Op role
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Proven ability to lead through change and ambiguity
  • Strong verbal and written communication skill
  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Additional skills desired for the role

  • Qualified Flight Instructor experience
  • Training Development Officer experience
  • Familiarity with the Canadian Forces Individual Training and Education System (CFITES)
  • Familiarity with iterative development processes such as AGILE
  • Project Management Institute (PMI) certification and experience is an asset
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and workflows
  • Combat Management System (CMS) exposure is an asset.
