Reporting to the Terminal Manager, the Regional Driver is responsible for transporting cargo regionally based on customer and company needs. Duties include picking/dropping cargo at customer sites, loading/unloading cargo and moving cargo in a safe and efficient manner. This position requires accountability, dependability, initiative, and strong customer service.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Transport cargo within assigned region depending on customer and company needs
  • Oversee cargo handling and securing loads, including tarping, chaining, and tying down loads
  • Assist in loading and unloading of trucks
  • Perform trip inspections on operating equipment and load, ensuring safety compliance
  • Check all load related documents to ensure that it is complete and accurate
  • Record and maintain required documentation including driver logbooks, bills of lading and PO numbers
  • Deliver product and proper paperwork to customers in a professional and timely manner
  • Comply with safety regulations including safe operation, carriage of goods, hours of service, occupational health and safety and weights and dimensions
  • Occasional cross border driving to the U.S. will be required
  • Overnight trips are a requirement
  • Occasionally assisting in the yard may be required
  • Other duties may be assigned


DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Class 1A driver license required
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as heavy machinery operator
  • Ability to operate heavy machinery while complying to safety requirements
  • Knowledge of transportation safety regulations and requirements
  • Proven accountability and dependability
  • Strong work ethic and personal integrity
  • Ability to communicate and portray professional demeanor
  • Ability to work with little supervision
  • Ability to work individually and in team setting
  • Ability to exert force up to 50kg
