As a Rotating Equipment Maintenance Planner, you will establish, maintain, and support continuous improvement of the maintenance planning process. You will be responsible to produce maintenance work packages that contain detailed activities that support refinery equipment repairs, replacements, and maximize equipment availability in a safe cost-effective manner. This position is a key member of the maintenance and operations team that works collaboratively with planners of other disciplines, management, maintenance scheduling and execution, area teams and operations. Your goal will be to learn our planning processes and our health and safety procedures, and to collaborate with team and others to ensure maximum exposure to promote your learning and development. Your Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed work scope and execution time estimates.

  • Ensure parts, materials, special tools, permits, external services, rentals, along with all required documentation, is clearly identified in planned work packages.

  • Complete job field reviews to ensure work scope is understood and plans are developed accordingly.

  • Assess and validate job descriptions.

  • Review previous work histories, available job plans, and pertinent data in the development of job plans.

  • Consult with key stakeholders to obtain relevant information, resources, and sequencing of job steps.

  • Identify all non-stocked, long lead parts, and other materials required that are required to execute a job plan safely and efficiently.

  • Work collaboratively with maintenance coordinators, SMEs, and schedulers to ensure optimal resource utilization is achieved.

  • Identify specialty equipment and contractor requirements, both internal and external.

  • Review upcoming maintenance preventive maintenance (PM) plans to ensure all required resources, parts, and materials are available as needed to achieve compliance target.

  • Establish and maintain a close working relationship with area teams to ensure everyone is set up for success.

Your Skills:

  • A comprehensive understanding and practical experience with the sequencing and prioritization of tasks associated with performing maintenance activities on refinery or similar industrial equipment.

  • Able to prepare work packages while recognizing any potential risks or barriers to be removed.

  • Able to read, interpret and apply technical information such as engineered drawings, manuals, and reports.

  • Ability to report both formally and informally on progress.

  • Good collaboration skills and a positive attitude is essential.

  • Support continuous improvement and have the associated mindset.

Your Experience:

  • Experience maintaining refinery equipment, industrial maintenance planning and or industrial scheduling and execution is beneficial but is not a requirement.

  • Education: Red Seal Journeyperson would be an asset but is not a requirement.

  • Post-secondary education or equivalent with practical experience.

  • Experience with operations or supervision in an industrial environment would be an asset but is not a requirement.

  • Experience with Oracle (eAM) or similar programs is a benefit but is not a requirement.

  • Proficiency with MS Office applications is essential.
