As a Senior Project Engineer,Engineering Strategy you will work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams on projects using your engineering, stakeholder management and client relationship management skills. Your goal will be to help source and manage the best third party engineering resource/s to support projects on various capital programs. Your success in the role will be evident through the development of strong working relationships, demonstration of a strategic mindset and a passion for continual process and performance improvement.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Support the development and implementation of the Third Party Engineering Sourcing Strategy for company

  • Support development of program or large project specific engineering resourcing and third party engineering sourcing strategies

  • Engage with various internal stakeholders (project managers, engineering managers, engineering discipline leads, project engineers and supply management representatives) to support resourcing and sourcing decisions.

  • Support development of third party engineering prequalification process, including building knowledge of specific company capabilities; and for specialist or novel services, identify suitable companies to support the project specific needs

  • Support continuous improvement of third party engineering performance and management framework; including investigating third party engineering issues, making recommendations for improvement to internal and external engineering processes and procedures.

  • Provide guidance on the third party engineering sourcing process to Project Engineers, including: advising on sourcing strategy and shortlist, and coaching on evaluation and selection process

Your Skills:

  • Knowledge of design engineering concepts, practices, and procedures; including the interdependencies, methodologies and responsibilities of the varying design engineering disciplines. Preference for discipline experience in developing engineering deliverables in FEED and Detailed Design phases

  • Strong commercial acumen and awareness of Supply Management processes and procedures as you will need to work closely with our Supply Management team.

  • Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills; able to influence without authority and lead stakeholder alignment amongst various internal and external organizations.

  • Ability to investigate and understand process and procedural issues, and make right sized recommendations for improvement of relevant tools and systems.

  • Able to articulate technical concepts and other project information in a clear, concise way, in writing and verbally, through various Microsoft office tools

  • This position will require you to be in the field periodically so you must be able to bend, stoop, crawl, and climb heights, while wearing all required PPE.

Your Experience:

  • University degree in engineering and P.Eng. designation, or immediate eligibility, is a requirement.

  • Minimum of 12 years of engineering experience on capital projects in the oil and gas, power or heavy industry sectors.

  • Minimum 5 years of this experience in Project Engineering, Engineering Management or Project Management.

  • Preference for experience on sustaining capital type projects or programs, as opposed to mega projects.

  • PMI or other project management designation is an asset.
