NAVAL ARCHITECTS and SHIP DESIGN STAFF (HALIFAX)

Although we do not have any specific positions open in this category, we are always looking for new team members to support our ongoing projects in the marine and shipbuilding industries. We want people who, like us, think, “ships are cool.” More specifically, we’re looking for naval architects, engineers, technologists and designers who are passionate, collaborative and professional.
The successful candidate may be working on a wide range of projects in the marine, offshore and renewables sectors. Responsibilities include:
- Develop design and production drawings and 3D models for a wide range of projects. Work will include mostly structural, outfitting and possibly mechanical design.
- Conduct basic structural analysis of ship structures, utilizing classification society rules and first principle hand calculations, as it relates to Marine Structures.
- Carry out tasks related to assessment of Ship’s Stability, such as Weight Estimates, Lightship Surveys, conducting Inclining Experiments and producing Stability Booklets.
- Onsite inspections and surveys as required by the project.
- Project specification development and technical writing.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Familiarization with ship Classification Society and Flag State Rules
- General knowledge of Shipbuilding, Construction and Repair.
- Knowledge of GHS, Ship Constructor, Maxsurf, NavCAD, Rhino, and Inventor are desirable.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- AutoCAD proficiency essential.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Diploma or Degree in Naval Architecture.
