Irving Shipbuilding Inc. is seeking a Director, Engineering.

This is a permanent full-time role based in Halifax Regional Municipality, Nova Scotia. The primary language of work is English. Qualifications:

· Education:

o Bachelor's Degree (Engineering), or equivalent industry experience

o Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent an asset.

o Master's degree in engineering, an asset

o Master's degree in business administration (MBA) or equivalent an asset.

o Accredited to the Professional Engineer's Nova Scotia - P.ENG

· Experience: 15 years or more experience in a shipbuilding/marine industrial environment with experience leading teams across a broad range of technical disciplines to deliver high quality outcomes, on time.

· Extensive knowledge gained from working on complex ship programs in several capacities.

· Record of achieving results while working collaboratively with industry partners and the customer

· Extensive knowledge of working on complex shipbuilding programs

· Ability to grow and develop a team for today and the future - engaging with, and empowering leaders and their teams.

· Ability to work well in high pressure situations to meet deadlines.

· Have an ability to adopt and affect beneficial change as part of your normal duties.

· Experience in managing to an Integrated Master Schedule and program Work Breakdown Structure

All successful applicants must meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Key Responsibilities:

· Lead, direct, manage and develop a team of managers, engineers, technologists, and specialists in naval ship engineering, design, and construction environments - from design through to delivery.

· Ensure timely execution of the engineering portion of the Arctic Offshore Patrol Ship and Canadian Surface Combatant programs - in close collaboration with our industry partners.

· Manage whole of engineering activity for programs, including across key partners, using appropriate metrics and KPIs, to meet program objectives. Seek opportunities for Continuous Improvement constantly.

· Facilitate and enable inter-departmental activity needed to achieve ISI's annual and longer-term business goals and objectives.

· Enhance enterprise risk and cost management through specific focus on issues affecting the delivery of systems and products assigned to engineering.

· Support team members in their professional development and use HR Talent Management programs to enable progression.

· Ensure compliance with all Company Environmental, Health and Safety policies and identify and suggest changes to promote safety awareness.

· Ensure strict adherence to Company quality procedures and policies.
