Irving Shipbuilding Inc.(ISI) is seeking an Engineer to work in the Industrial Engineering department on the Continuous Improvement team.This role will be to improve production procedures, processes, and controls by executing improvement initiatives across ISI's various facilities.

This is a permanent full-time role based in Halifax Regional Municipality, Nova Scotia. The primary language of work is English. Qualifications:
  • Education:
    • Recognized Degree in Engineering - Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical or similar
    • Registered with or eligible for registration with Engineers Nova Scotia as an EIT or P.ENG
  • Experience: 2-5 years experience in an industrial and manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate and plan projects
  • Demonstrated ability to execute, monitor, control, and close projects
  • Demonstrated ability to foster positive relationships both with and among team members
  • Knowledge and experience with lean six sigma tools & techniques considered an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex stakeholders and conflicting requirements
  • Willingness to attend change management/'leading change' training certification or have equivalent training or experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively and persuasively in English, both orally and in writing
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Products

All successful applicants must meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage cross functional improvement projects throughout the organization from beginning to end
  • Apply Lean Six Sigma tools and techniques to execute improvement initiatives
  • Analyze & measure datasets to drive data-led decision making
  • Conduct meetings, workshops, and prepare presentations to communicate status of initiatives
  • Manage relationships across project stakeholders and execute leading change plan
  • Coordinate project resources and ensure projects are completed according to plan
  • Develop knowledge of lean six sigma tools & techniques
  • Coach others in the organization & help facilitate lean learning across the business
  • Create & maintain complete project documentation and records
