Irving Shipbuilding Inc. is seeking an Emergency Management Specialist.

As an Emergency Management Specialist, you will be responsible for training employees for roles in the EOC and ERT and ensuring compliance with emergency management requirements. Our ideal candidate will be knowledgeable about disaster management, risk assessment and emergency response procedures, with excellent leadership and decision-making abilities. This role is extremely dynamic in nature, and requires significant relationship building across all of ISI, as well as numerous external agencies/sources.

This is a permanent full-time role based in Halifax Regional Municipality, Nova Scotia. The primary language of work is English. Qualifications:

· Education:

o Post-secondary education in a related field, or equivalent experience.

o ICS 100 and 200 required.

o ICS 300 and 400 considered an asset.

o Certification in Disaster and Emergency Management considered an asset.

· Experience: 5 years' experience as an Emergency Management Specialist or similar role.

· Knowledge of disaster management and emergency response procedures.

· Experience in an Emergency Operations Center considered an asset.

· Working knowledge of building safety codes and fire safety codes considered an asset.

· Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills.

· Ability to work under pressure and respond quickly in emergency situations.

· Strong decision-making and leadership skills.

All successful applicants must meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Key Responsibilities:

· Plan and develop procedures and emergency management plans for response to and recovery from emergencies and disasters.

· Establish and maintain site Emergency Operations Center including training /onboarding of core members.

· Plan, coordinate, and conduct exercises and drills to test the effectiveness of emergency management plans and procedures.

· Prepare and present reports on emergency preparedness and response activities, which include recommendations for improvement.

· Work with safety and environment resources to ensure regulatory requirements are met through compliance documentation and exercises.

· Inspect facilities and equipment used in emergency management operations to ensure they are working properly.

· Provide direct leadership/mentorship, for Emergency Response Team (ERT) including recruitment and coordination of training for members.

· Promote and coordinate cross-agency Confined Space rescue and Working at Height Rescue Training with external responding agencies (HRFE and CFB Halifax Fire).
