The Opportunity

We are looking for a Project Manager - Engineering to join an exciting team who help create, innovate, and deliver modern solutions for customers. Solutions like residential batteries, commercial and industrial solar and batteries, multi-unit residential building heating and charging solutions, public infrastructure to support electric vehicle network, and e-mobility solutions for public transit and marine applications.

NS Power requires technical employees who can work with customers on designing individual solutions that work for them. NS Power requires our technical team to remain connected to the industry to ensure that customers are aware of the modern technologies available that support their desire for reliable, cost effective, green energy solutions. The role will be actively engaged on cross functional teams within NSP to represent technical input regarding Customer Solutions goals and objectives working to integrate new technologies, products and services into our business. The candidate will work closely with other internal and external technical and operating groups to ensure projects are successfully implemented.

Key elements of this role include:

  • Evaluate technologies and conduct energy modelling studies to provide recommendations.
  • Maintain knowledge base on e-mobility, battery storage, and solar generation and storage.
  • Support integrations, devise test-cases, dispatch and collect data in support of hypothesis and projects that allow Nova Scotia Power to learn more about new technologies for our customers.
  • Collaborate with internal and external engineering and technical teams to advance program and project development.
  • Collaborate with distribution planning and interconnection teams to support grid integration with new technologies.
  • Collaborate with Efficiency Nova Scotia on collaborative initiatives, as an example demand response.
  • Be responsible for your personal safety and that of your co-workers by observing all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations.
  • You will be accountable for environmental performance as it relates to the environmental management system processes and initiatives apply project management processes and procedures and ensure they are implemented to support the successful completion of projects.
  • Build and maintain relationships with consultants, vendors and industry organizations.
  • Application of and resource for industry standards and guidelines interpretation.
  • Be responsible for your personal safety and that of your co-workers by observing all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations.
  • Travel within Nova Scotia required to customer and project sites.

These skills will make you successful:

To thrive in this role, you recognize yourself in most of the following competencies and skills listed below:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering. Preferably Electrical or Industrial.
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.
  • Self-starter with excellent organizational and analytical skills who can function effectively in a team environment.

Assets:

  • Registered as P.Eng. with Engineers Nova Scotia.
  • Experience in Contractor Management, including accountability for safety oversite for construction and operational activities.
  • Knowledge and expertise in e-mobility (EVs, EV Chargers, Grid integration, fleet management, etc.) is an asset. Please highlight and describe in application.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) credential
  • Regulated utility experience, energy modeling and/or GHG accounting certification(s).
  • Experience in integrating software platforms, software development methodologies and tools.
  • Certified Energy Manager (CEM)
