Superintendent, Integrated Mine Planning

About the role

We are looking for a Superintendent of Integrated Mine Planning responsible for overseeing underground and surface planning, drill and blast, ventilation, underground geotechnical, and survey functions. This role will work closely with the processing team to ensure an integrated mine plan is achieved, reporting to the Diavik Technical Manager.

Working a two (2) weeks on / two (2) weeks off rotation, the successful candidate will:

  • Managing the Integrated mine planning team, consisting of senior engineers, engineers, technicians, and surveyors.
  • Short and mid-range planning processes in surface and underground mining.
  • Drill and blast functions in surface and underground mining.
  • Underground ventilation and geotechnical programs.
  • Mentoring and developing the Integrated Mine Planning team.
  • Ensuring Diavik is compliant with all relevant legislation and the Rio Tinto Underground Safety Standards (D1).
  • Support the Rio Tinto Critical Risk Management system.
  • Provide leadership within the Diavik Technical department.

About you

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:

  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team.
  • Mining Engineering degree from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • Registered or ability to be registered with NAPEG.
  • 10+ years in underground and/or open pit mine engineering.
  • Experience supervising technical staff.
  • Experience in operational roles.
  • Experience with Open Pit mining, Sub-Level Retreat and Open Stoping with Cemented Rockfill is preferred.

Northern residency and experience working in a cross-cultural environment, coupled with knowledge of the unique challenges and opportunities presented to those living in the North, are assets.
