About the Role

MASSIV Automated Systems, an advanced technology-based division of Magna International Inc., specializes in the design and build of automated/robotic assembly lines for the automotive industry. Our areas of expertise include hemming (robotic and table top), laser welding, and assembly line welding. Our customers include other divisions within Magna and the Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) such as General Motors, Chrysler and Ford.

We are a true global supplier to the automotive industry! Our assembly lines provide a diverse range of automotive products such as doors, hoods, liftgates and underbody parts to customers in Canada, the United States, Mexico, Asia and Europe.

The Laser Robotic Programmer will be the subject matter expert for Massiv's Robotic industrial laser systems and there setup/startup. You will be involved in laser system design and simulation as well as ensuring components selected perform safely and reliably.

Your Responsibilities

• Set up structure of robot and laser interface and programs
• Configure robot IO, weld interface and program call
• Provide robotic support and training as required
• Support Laser cell design and safety requirements, ensure our design complies with most current industry standards
• Support sale department on initial concepts and equipment required for new product.
• Work closely with Robotic Laser lead regarding projects, monitoring workload and deadlines
• Anticipate and solve robotic Laser problems (troubleshoot)
• Contain, report and have safety hazards fixed by qualified people immediately
• Know how to properly lockout all energy sources, including stored energy
• Follow all safety rules, standards and procedures at all times in all areas
• Know what types of Personal Protective Equipment are required for the jobs in your area and always use them properly
• Ensure that your work area is kept clean, tidy and organized at all times to prevent accidents and produce quality products
• Report all unusual circumstances and actively participate in and support Continuous Improvements
• Follow all ISO Standard Operating Procedures to ensure world class quality products are supplied to our customers
• Perform other related duties as required

Who we are looking for

• Minimum three (3) or more years of hands-on experience programming robots (Fanuc preferred)
• Knowledge and experience with lasers for thermal welding and/or cutting processes (Remote laser welding and laser brazing)
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Excellent organizational skills and leadership capabilities
• Excellent understanding of robotic coordinate systems
• Working knowledge of communication protocols (Enet and/or Profinet)
• Ability to delegate work and manage multiple tasks
• Ability to work as a team member and individually
• Sound mechanical ability to work on robot dress packages and peripheral equipment
• Advanced knowledge of automated assembly equipment and process
• Good understanding robot safety setup, familiar with CSA Z434 and RIA robotic safety standards
• Good computer skills using Microsoft Word and Excel, basic 2D and 3D CAD (AutoCAD)
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work as a team member and individually
