Your Opportunity

Reporting to the Coordinator, Facilities & Maintenance, the Senior Department Supervisor, Operations provides leadership to the operations team to support the maintenance and cleanliness of Conservation Halton parks. In collaboration with other departments, this position will contribute to the experiences, programming, events, and recreational activities that CH offers to visitors.

  • Support with recruitment, scheduling, payroll; provide supervision & mentorship to supervisors and front line staff.
  • Collaborate on the development & delivery of training plans and materials for seasonal staff
  • Support the Coordinator in leading department operations, including overseeing completion of daily/seasonal tasks, cleaning procedures, and area checks related to water systems, septic systems, including regular inspections, meter readings, and report submissions
  • Perform daily, monthly, and seasonal safety checks throughout Conservation Halton Parks
  • Responsible for operation of small/heavy equipment
  • Maintain a strong focus on health and safety and risk management
  • Support the development of SOP's, training manuals, and policies for the Operations Department; ensuring training is completed and documented appropriately
  • Assist with digital assets documents and inventory(s).
  • Work closely with the coordinator to understand departmental budgets, goals and objectives, keeping these factors in mind when making decisions.
  • Contribute to positive guest experience and public image by managing guest inquiries using knowledge of CHs policies and offerings
  • Oversee and inventory all department PPE and safety equipment
  • Support with Transit staff and operations for Glen Eden
  • Support with setup, takedown, and running of seasonal operations, special events, and functions
  • Work with Coordinator on the development of workplans, completion of maintenance repairs and capital projects.

Your Qualifications

  • 3 years' experience in operations, maintenance, janitorial position, or related work experience in busy recreation/education facilities or parks (not limited to event venues)
  • 2-3 years' experience in a leadership role supervising front line staff
  • Minimum secondary school education/diploma required
  • Ability to operate small/heavy/landscape equipment is required
  • Previous experience with developing/delivering training, preparation of SOPs and policies is an asset
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to collaborate across multiple departments, provide direction and be authoritative when required
  • Customer service mindset with strong problem solving and decision-making skills in managing guest interactions and internal/external stakeholders
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, able to multitask and manage competing priorities
  • A valid Ontario Drivers Licence, minimum Class "G", with a satisfactory Driver's Abstract is required. *Abstract completed by Conservation Halton.
  • Certificate in operations of small water drinking systems preferred. (If not previously obtained, opportunity to complete training provided by CH)
  • Ability to work in a variety of outdoor conditions
  • Able to lift up to 60 pounds, stand, and walk for long periods of time
