P&H Milling

P&H is the largest Canadian-owned milling company. The P&H Milling Group sources wheat from Western Canada, Ontario, Quebec, and Atlantic Canada to produce quality flour and cereal products. The lineup includes hard red spring wheat flour for breads and other bakery products, soft winter wheat flour for cakes and cookies, as well as semolina flour for pasta, organic flour, and atta flour for chappati. In our specialty milling operation in Saskatoon, we also mill pea fractions.

From its mills in Halifax, Nova Scotia; Acton, Hanover, Hamilton, and Cambridge, Ontario; Saskatoon, Saskatchewan; and Lethbridge, Alberta, the P&H Milling Group supplies flour to customers throughout Canada, the United States, the Caribbean, the Middle East, Iceland, and Pacific Rim countries.

Wage and Benefits

Wage: $45,000 - $60,000 per year.

Your Role

The individual will be responsible for assisting the Fleet & Compliance Manager, maintaining the comprehensive motor carrier safety program in accordance with Company policies and ensure compliance with laws and regulations. Additionally, this individual will ensure the safety of drivers and confirm that MOT/DOT compliances are met as well as assist new drivers in various capacities. The Fleet Safety and Compliance Coordinator will assist in the development and implementation of programs and policies to address fleet maintenance and safety, driver safety and ensure compliance with regulations related to transportation industry.

Day to Day

  • Coordinate priorities for all safety and compliance functions company wide.
  • Assist with all driver questions regarding hours of service and driver logs.
  • Assist with driver onboarding, including driver orientation, review and audit of driver qualification files, and setup of new drivers in applicable systems.
  • As requested, or required, provide management with regular reports regarding all safety functions, including accidents, claims, violations, and overall safety trends.
  • Provide backup for maintenance and compliance functions.
  • Understanding accident and claim reporting procedures and processes.
  • Ability to file in a timely manner all truck registrations and permits.
  • Comply with all rules, regulations, and safety policies of the company.
  • Create and maintain all Driver Qualification files. Ensuring all documents are up to date, as policy states
  • Monitor and review HOS compliance and accuracy, detect violations in ELD and paper logs and follow-up has been completed.
  • Update and maintain all tractor and trailer maintenance files. Adhere to PM and Annual inspection schedule and ensure compliance with company's maintenance policy with vehicles and vendors.
  • Review and follow up on any infractions, claims, convictions, incidents, and accidents as they occur.
  • Perform other administrative and general tasks as they arise.

Required Qualifications

  • 1-2+ years of Transportation Safety or related experience.
  • Knowledge of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (F.M.C.S.R.).
  • Knowledge of the Highway Traffic Act HTA and the NSC
  • The ability to effectively prioritize tasks and manage time.
  • Demonstrates consistent punctuality attendance.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret and general industry journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations as they pertain to compliant recruiting processes.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from the current and new drivers as well as the leadership group.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office, internet, web-based and job-related specific software applications.
