Reporting to the Manager of Wastewater there is an immediate opening for a Water Resources Engineer with the Infrastructure Services Division within the Environmental Services Department.
• Manages, coordinates, and administers all applications to amend or modify the Wastewater and Stormwater City's Combined Linear Infrastructure Environmental Compliance Agreements (CLI-ECAs).
• Acts as a primary peer reviewer of all engineering designs and reports submitted by external developers and internal engineers in support of any CLI-ECA application.
• Develops and coordinates stormwater maintenance and monitoring programs in support of the City's stormwater CLI-ECA.
• Provides internal professional engineering services as a licensed Professional Engineer for divisional studies, master plans, and projects related to stormwater infrastructure (e.g., low-impact development, sewers, stormwater management ponds, inlet/outlet structures, watercourses, etc.).
• Provides technical and operational support for a variety of groundwater, stormwater, wastewater and/or drinking water programs and projects requiring expert understanding of groundwater transport, surface water drainage, and aquatic chemistry or processes.
• Manages multiple projects concurrently, addressing stakeholder needs and mitigating risks.
• Designs, reviews, and approves engineering works and tender documents.
• Directs staff on design and construction issues and solves technical problems.
• Resolves disputes related to design, construction methods, and payments.
• Interprets regulations and resolves technical problems efficiently.
• Develops unique solutions to operational problems independently.
• Leads stormwater management strategy planning and execution.
• Work adheres to various regulations and standards including the Environmental Protection Act, Environmental Assessment Act, Ministry of the Environment SWM Practices Manual, Ontario Provincial Standards, and Occupational Health and Safety Act.
4-year Honours Degree in Civil, Environmental, or Water Resources Engineering or related field.
Registered as a licensed Professional Engineer with the Professional Engineers Association of Ontario (PEO).
Valid Ontario Driver's License.
• A minimum of 3 - 4 years experience in the design and construction of municipal infrastructure including roads, sewers, water mains, and stormwater management (SWM) facilities.
• Proficiency in applied software applications including GIS, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office.
• Project management of consultants for detailed design and construction administration.
• Public speaking and chairing public meetings.
The annual salary range is $91,036 - $111,020 (Non-Union Salary Grid, Level 5). We offer a comprehensive benefit package that includes extended health, dental, and travel benefits and enrolment in the Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System (OMERS).
Standard hours of work are Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. with some evenings and weekends as required.
