Are you interested in a new and exciting opportunity? We are hiring a Civil/Architectural/Mechanical Technician to prepare building drawings and perform Engineering Change Control close outs. Do you have an interest in performing field walk-downs, site drawings, and configuration control? If so, this may be the role for you!
What you will be doing!
  • Preparing accurate as built drawings
  • Perform engineering change control close outs
  • Perform void and destruction of obsolete drawings
  • Effectively manage multiple tasks/assignments
  • Possesses a positive attitude and a strong ability to work effectively within a team;
  • Capable of working independently in an environment of rapidly changing and conflicting priorities using prioritization and planning skills to meet established deadlines;
  • Personal commitment to safety and a questioning attitude;
  • Self-motivated individual showing attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Willing to occasionally visit off site CNL facilities
  • There is potential to enter highly hazardous environments and the requirements to wear personal protective equipment to mitigate any physical/health hazards.
  • Project deadlines or emergent work may require the employee to work beyond the normal working day when requested and/or approved by line management
What we are looking for:
  • Secondary School Graduation Diploma or equivalent and normally has more than 3 years pertinent progressive experience or the equivalent in experience, additional education and/or training. Or;
  • Graduation from a recognized institute of advanced technology in a field relevant to the position, or equivalent formal education.
  • Must have experience in preparing accurate design drawings
  • Must be experienced using Auto Cad
  • Must be have strong blue print reading skills
  • Knowledge of general construction methods (architectural and structural) is an asset
  • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems is an asset
  • Knowledge of the CNL Design Office Manual (DOM)
  • Knowledge of the CNL Engineering Change Control (ECC) Process
  • Must be capable of performing field walk downs to record the as built status of construction projects in the civil, architectural, structural, and mechanical disciplines
  • Must be able to prepare as built drawings using auto cad in a proficient manner
  • Must be able to prepare various documents to support work plans such as figures, maps, diagrams and illustrations
  • Must be able to revise existing CADD and hand drawings
  • Must be able to perform Field Walk Down Reports (site visit)
  • Must be able to prepare hand drawn sketches based on conditions in the field
  • Initiative, motivation, and good people skills to work with peers as well as both internal and external customers in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in both written and oral communication is required.
  • Must possess a working knowledge of design drafting technique and practice.
  • Must possess a working knowledge of mathematics.
  • Must possess knowledge of standard construction equipment, processes and materials in mechanical, civil, structural and architectural fields

Security clearance eligibility required: Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, United States and/or the United Kingdom.

Location of Work - Hybrid
  • This role is based out of CNL's Chalk River site, however, subject to the terms of this agreement, the primary work location will be remote. The role will require some regular and frequent attendance at the Chalk River site. The schedule and frequency will be determined by discussions with the manager as well as internal client and project needs. CNL may require travel from time to time, as necessary.
