Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Designs, analyses and evaluates all transformer and related products.
  • Under limited direction, perform a variety of complex engineering assignments requiring in-depth knowledge of a Transformer winding, testing and assembly processes.
  • Estimates build up cost of direct material & direct labour used in producing transformers.
  • Modifies existing designs to be more cost effective and patriciates in the preliminary estimations.
  • Responsible for all engineering documentation, including drawings, design compliance, manuals, etc.
  • Involved in compliance/conformance with CSA, and other standards.
  • Reviews AutoCAD drawings, and 3D modeling; design checking, design order review and refinement; warranty review.
  • Works as a cross functional team member and interacts with production staff, testing, quality department.
  • Designs and development process equipment and review machine design from concept to detail (project lift cycle).
  • Evaluates the interaction of the machine/mechanical system with other equipment.
  • Reviews and develops technical documents such as, testing procedures and manuals in accordance with design compliance and technical requirements.
  • Ensures schedule compliance by interacting with the customer, internal team and vendors (tender review, quotes and contract review; design and process planning development)
  • Answers all enquiries on the technical aspects of transformers from customers, production team, CSA , etc.
  • Participates in hand over meeting with project/production management.


Qualifications:

  • Post-Secondary Education in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Five years of practical experience in transformers/reactors manufacturing, and design.
  • Experience within a manufacturing environment, familiar with assembly and electrical systems.
  • Experience with mechanical systems and a familiarity with powder coat systems, is considered an asset
  • Experience with Solid Edge and 3D Modeling and Design Software is strongly preferred.
  • Parametric design and computer programming would also be an asset.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of all relevant CSA standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
