Duties:

· Schedules, coordinates and directs garage personnel for all vehicle maintenance and repairs performed in shop and field.

· Decide and schedule what portions of vehicle repairs are to be sublet to commercial facilities while ensuring quality and maximum cost effectiveness are met.

· Ensure stockroom procedures and record keeping is maintained to prescribed standards.

· Plans and prioritizes vehicle servicing with user departments.

· Monitors production levels and quality standards of work performed.

· Records and updates details on prescribed forms and in various computer systems (AMIS, WORD, EXCEL, EMAIL) in accordance with established procedures.

· Ensures employees and equipment comply with company guidelines on safety.

· Ensures garage and surrounding area are maintained in proper order and routinely conducts safety inspections of the garage area.

· Manage fleet compound and its content

· Administers fleet compound and fuel card assignment for short-term and replacement vehicles.

· Monitors and maintains proper tool inventory.

· Monitors and assists with controlling garage operating expenses.

· Administers and maintains pool vehicles assigned to the garage.

· Performs minor and major repairs, servicing and up fitting on all types of vehicles, (cars, light truck, medium/heavy trucks and truck trailers) including mounted vehicle
attachments (cranes, hirail, gensets etc.) and material handling equipment.

· Uses electric and oxy-acetylene welding equipment, and other vehicle repair tools to perform repairs.

· Required to perform duties in-shop, outside and at field locations as required.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Employment Requirements:

· Must be a self-starter and capable of leading and directing garage staff personnel.

· Capable and experienced in dealing with internal customers and suppliers, both in person and over the phone.

· Conduct daily business with customers, vendors and staff in a professional and courteous and respectful manner.

· Possess strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

· Familiar with new servicing techniques and maintenance procedures.

· Familiar with stockroom procedures and have a good knowledge of the garage operation.

· Must have at least five years' experience in the Heavy Duty or Commercial Transport repair trade. Other additional mechanic certifications would be an asset.

· Capable of certifying company equipment in accordance with Provincial/Regulatory standards.

· Proficient in recording and updating details on prescribed forms and in various computer systems (AMIS, WORD, EXCEL, EMAIL) in accordance with established procedures.

· Must pass Garage Foreman/Foreman Mechanic Test, pass Company "A" Mechanic's Test & pass company medical exam.

· Valid Provincial driver's license is required. Air endorsement and class upgrade would be an asset.

· Capable to operate all types of vehicles and equipment serviced in the garage.

· Required to have own basic hand tools sufficient to perform repairs and servicing to all types of fleet equipment.

· Qualified applicants will be subject to an interview

Working Conditions:

Shop environment, however, outside work at terminals and in the field will be required.
Variable shifts to accommodate vehicle availability may be required.
Extended stay away from home when performing fieldwork may be required.
