Responsible for the operation of the Guelph distribution centre, you will have real impact in providing millions of Canadians with their favorite cup of coffee every day. We are looking for a self-starter with an ownership mindset, strong safety culture and people focus, front-line leadership skills, and focus on process efficiency, continuous improvement and customer service.

Under the guidance of General Manager for Distribution, this position is accountable for the overall DC operation, ensuring a safe working environment, effective storage and fulfillment of customer orders on time, in full, accurately and without damage, be responsible for developing and implementing short- and long-term resource planning, and team coaching and development.

Qualifications:

  • 5 - 10 years' experience in in all aspects of warehouse/freight logistics industry
  • 4+ years' of management experience within the warehouse/freight logistics industry
  • Experience with warehouse and labour management systems
  • Experience with transportation management systems
  • Demonstrated servant leadership and people focus
  • Demonstrated knowledge and commitment to safety
  • Excellent communication, analytical and interpersonal/team skills
  • Solution-oriented, with strong problem solving, process improvement and decision making skills
  • Proven ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast paced environment
  • Proficient computer skills in PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Access and email (Outlook).
  • Experience with creating, managing and ensuring adherence to annual budget

Key Tasks and Accountabilities

Management of Distribution Operations

  • Manage and oversee all aspects of distribution operations; plan, organize and direct warehousing and transportation operations which includes the daily flow of inbound and outbound products to fulfil Tim Hortons restaurants orders in a timely fashion
  • Develop routines, policies and standard operating procedures for the warehouse, transportation and maintenance departments
  • Maintain and take action to ensure a safe working environment which includes determining root cause of safety issues followed by appropriate corrective action
  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators and prepare reports and related statistics
  • Forecast short-term and mid-term labour requirements and management of the headcount budget
  • Prepare annual DC budget; manage, monitor and approve all expenditures for the facility while adhering to budget expectations
  • Assure the integrity of operations within the Guelph DC,
  • Use various systems and reports (WMS, Excel) to capture, export, manipulate data to generate key summaries that help guide business decisions
  • Continuously monitor effectiveness of the operations strategies aimed at improving quality-control procedures and optimizing operating costs. Offer alternative solutions to system and procedural issues with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Keep abreast of distribution industry developments and technology to identify opportunities and make recommendations to improve distribution operations

Execution of Superior Customer Service to the Restaurants

  • Ensure the completion on daily mandates to provide on time and on quality deliveries to our Restaurants
  • Address problems with production or shipping delays, quality-control issues, such as damaged or improperly packed goods, and problems with warehouse capacity and client deadlines
  • Ensure that all concerns raised from the Restaurants are addressed to ensure ongoing trust and commitment from our customers
  • Engage in cross-functional projects that focus on continuous improvement of distribution business.
  • Provide and maintain strong customer service. Solve problems and execute continuous improving activities.

People - Manage Teams and Engage in Cross Functional Partnerships

  • Accountable for the performance, engagement and safety of approximately 450 employees
  • Be present and available to employees; "manage by walking around"
  • Manage, coach and develop management team including personal development and succession planning
  • Accountable to ensure regulatory safety compliance of all employees
  • Provide direction and guidance to support the success of employees, including identifying areas of opportunities such as job instructions, retraining programs
  • Motivate and inspire the team and drive engagement of the team with high touch in-person interactions
  • Responsible to resolve conflict and to create a positive and productive team environment
  • Provide timely and effective communication through staff meetings, individual interactions, as well as written and electronic communication
  • Foster and sustain existing partnerships with support teams including IT and HR to reach collaborative decisions
  • Work directly and collaboratively with cross functional departments on various projects and as business need arise
