Engineering Supervisor

At Comtech Mfg., we are looking for an Engineering Supervisor to supervise, coach, and direct the work of our team of highly skilled engineers.

This is an exciting opportunity in a high volume, fast-paced, highly automated and technical organization with opportunities for continuous learning and career advancement.

This position reports to the facility Engineering Manager and is 100% in-person at the facility.

Performance Expectations

  • Supervise, coach and mentor a technical team of 8, including Program Managers, Project Engineers, and Process Engineers
  • Develop process plans for new parts, time studies and prepare quotations for parts, review existing processes.
  • Conduct feasibility studies to define equipment required and justification.
  • Liaise with manufacturing, quality and maintenance departments on manufacturing concerns.
  • Investigate and plan industrial type activities such as, takt times, tooling studies, ergonomics and safety reviews.
  • Review Customer Focus Plans, Corrective Actions, and ECR’s to facilitate the timely closing of the above.
  • Assist in planning and coordinate introduction of new engineering analysis tools such as CAD, CAD/CAM systems, CAT, quotation worksheet.
  • Select equipment and material and subcontract sources.
  • Supervise installation and initial startup of equipment.
  • Perform and document machine tool capability studies.
  • Troubleshooting for production problems whenever needed.
  • Assign customers to the project engineers to coordinate quotations, program introduction, production run jobs, and problem solving.
  • Assist in the preparation of SRED.
  • Responsible for plant layout.
  • Complete production and completion schedules to track process and progress of projects.

Credentials

  • Post-Secondary degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum four years of experience in machining or manufacturing environment.
  • Previous supervisory or project management experience.
  • Knowledge of SPC methods, process and machine capability requirements, and lot control techniques.
  • Knowledge of Quality and Environmental systems.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge and comprehension of APQP process.
  • Experience with the use of statistical analysis software and computer-assisted design, manufacturing and machining.
  • Ability to take precise measurements using specialized equipment and techniques.
  • Aware of new technologies and advances in the engineering field.
