Job Summary:

Reporting to the Shop Foreman the Small Engine Technician is responsible for performing repairs and maintenance jobs, and successfully completes other day-to-day tasks by meeting or exceeding corporate and project goals for safety, quality and schedule, resulting in extreme customer satisfaction.

$43.77/ hour, pension, benefits, vacation all provided

Key Accountabilities:

  • Must be familiar or willing to learn hydraulic tool repairs, i.e. Hydraulic drills, grinders, impacts
  • Be able to repair and maintain material to manufacturers' specification, i.e. backpack blowers, saws, drills, impacts 2 stroke, 4 stroke engines and Chain sharpening
  • Ability to learn how specialized equipment operates and is repaired
  • Follow PNR Railworks and Railworks corporate policies
  • Responsibly operates company vehicles and/or equipment and ensures all daily maintenance and inspections of the units are completed
  • Performs special duties as assigned by the Shop Foreman
  • Performs any administrative duties related to proper documentation as per the PNR Railworks-GO Maintenance Division Quality Management System

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 2 years related experience in the similar discipline
  • Certificate of Recognition Small Engine Technician Certificate (435A)
  • Ontario G Driver's License
  • Ability to read and understand specific documents including schedules, schematics, drawings and specifications.
  • Ability to understand and efficiently carry out instructions.
  • Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the work being performed.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient use of computers, tablets etc.

Working Conditions:

  • Frequently stands, walks, climbs, balances, lifts, bends, and moves objects up to 50 pounds
  • Exposed to loud noise (PPE is required)
