Engineer - Supplier Quality

Maintaining of systems to survey, approve, communicate and monitor performance of suppliers of raw material, to ensure quality and delivery of material; To review and approve, supplier PPAP(Production Part Approval Process) submissions; To develop and maintain systems to provide suppliers with feedback on quality and delivery problems; To collect the supplier quality and delivery performance to report Quality, Production, Engineering and Materials Control Departments if they need it. To assist in the communication of supplier quality and delivery performance between Quality, Engineering and Materials Control Departments; To work with supplier to improve KPI's (Key Performance Indicator)to meet Linamar requirements in quality.

Performance Expectations

  • Works with global team to maintain and improve the Supplier Performance Monitoring System.
  • Assist Project Engineer to select suppliers and establish supplier sample submission requirements
  • Assist Purchasing Engineer to do PSA (Potential Supplier Audit) for the potential supplier.
  • Interface with suppliers of raw material to resolve chronic or acute quality or delivery problems
  • Push supplier using the automotive quality tool as fishbone diagram,5why,8D to cope with the issue
  • Coordinate and oversee all internal supplier related sorting activities after obtaining authorization from the supplier
  • Issue monthly and /or quarterly supplier PPM report and communicate results to management, purchasing and individual suppliers; push supplier continue improvement to ask supplier submit the corrective action for Top3 with PPM.
  • Investigation and handle the supplier part's problem issuing the quality complaint to supplier, review and approve supplier's corrective action report follow up as needed to ensure their resolution and report to core team.
  • Receive and review, supplier PPAP submission, require documentation and approve or reject as project required
  • Act as a resource person for training of related supplier personnel, development of PPAP documentation and systems development; issue the incoming inspection instruction and training IQC to study inspection skill.
  • Participate in or organize meetings involving supplier issue
  • Conduct assessments or QSA on existing suppliers as required
  • Develop and monitor schedule to ensure suppliers of significant purchased parts submit an annual PPAP
  • Develop and maintain a schedule to track suppliers' progress towards ISO/QS9000 registration
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with our suppliers and assisting in solving quality issues
  • Issue reports to management when significant information or concerns arise
  • Communicate with third party sort/rework companies to arrange sorting activities as may be required under direction of the Quality Assurance Manager or Supervisor
  • Ability to travel to supplier locations and ensure that 2nd party audits are completed as well as to monitor performance / corrections in process.

Credentials

  • College degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent work experience

Desired Characteristics

  • Ability to meet, realize and support customers' product requirements, implement the knowledge of operation system and specific requirement.
  • 1+ years' experience in a machining or manufacturing environment
  • 3+ years experience in Supplier Quality Assurance management
  • Foundry experience and understanding of core making and casting processes
  • Some familiarity and proficiency with personal computers
  • APQP、SPC、FMEA、MSA、PPAP、CQI-9、VDA6.3、VDA6.5、IATF16949 internal auditor qualification and G&T tolerance training is preferred.
