Manager of Taxation (Hybrid)

The Manager of Taxation will manage the tax compliance, provision, forecasting, audit defense, tax planning, tax filing (Canadian), coordinate US tax filing and administrative matters.

Performance Expectations

  • Manage all Canadian tax compliance requirements including corporate tax filings, non-resident transaction reporting, foreign affiliate reporting, FAPI, country-by-country reporting, and surplus computations.
  • Manage the quarterly tax provision reporting for the global group, annual consolidated tax provision reporting, and financial statement note disclosures.
  • Monitor tax accounts for financial reporting purposes to ensure activity and balances are reconciled and appropriately reflect the Company’s tax position.
  • Manage and respond to Canadian corporate tax audit issues and queries.
  • Support business units by responding to tax specific queries.
  • Participate in special projects/perform technical research as assigned by management.
  • Coordination of US tax compliance with external service providers
  • Assist in the coordination of cash repatriation and financing strategies.
  • Assist in the coordination of transfer pricing analysis and documentation requirements.
  • Lead in the development and mentorship of junior tax staff.

Credentials

  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation preferred.
  • Completion of the CPA Canada In-depth Tax course preferred.
  • Five or more years of Canadian corporate income tax experience, including a good working knowledge of Canada’s tax rules on foreign affiliates, scientific research and experimental development, transfer pricing, and profit repatriation issues.
  • Experience managing direct reports.
  • Thorough understanding of tax accounting under IFRS and experience working on multi-national public company tax provisions
  • Broad international tax experience in such countries as Mexico, the U.S., France, Germany and China is an asset.
  • Industry experience in a manufacturing environment is an asset.
