Job Description Summary

The Technical Leader for the Mechanical Analysis team will work within the Equipment and Components Engineering team of GE Hitachi. The Mechanical Analysis team is responsible for performing analyses on reactor systems and components, which may include piping evaluations, stress analyses, fracture evaluations, seismic and other load determination, and vibrational responses, to ensure performance and regulatory compliance. The Mechanical Analysis team has strong interfaces with hardware design, containment, core analysis as well as emergent customer issue resolution responsibilities. This role requires work planning and work oversight, technical problem solving and communication/collaboration with other teams within the GEH and GNF business functions.

Job Description

The Mechanical Analysis Technical Leader is responsible for the delivery of high-quality engineering analyses and services including the following essential responsibilities:

  • Articulate the work plan team will use to address the technical work scope requested.
  • Work with project managers to develop and maintain good project schedules
  • Work Engineering leadership and personnel to assure compliance to procedures, standards and regulatory criteria.
  • Establish best practices and or leverage best practices within the team.
  • Communicate effectively the status of engineering and project priorities to the team, stakeholders and management.
  • Meet customer commitments and drive continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's in an engineering discipline from an accredited college or University
  • Minimum 5 years of experience performing mechanical analysis using ANSYS and APDL (stress analysis, heat transfer, non-linear systems, vibrations, fatigue and/or fracture mechanics)
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in a technology or engineering role
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisor experience leading teams

Desired Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree or greater in an engineering discipline from an accredited college or University, preferably in Mechanical or Engineering Physics.
  • Nuclear Industry knowledge / experience
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical analysis fundamentals - stress analysis, heat transfer, vibrations, flaw evaluation
  • Strong communication and writing skills and capable of articulating specific technical topics or assignments
  • Strong facilitation, team building, communication and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of project management.
  • Strong analytical capabilities, problem solving and process skills
  • Ability to work effectively within a highly collaborative environment
  • A self-starter willing to take initiative
