Your work environment at EXP

EXP is seeking a Systems Engineering Specialist to join our global Rail & Transit Systems group. As a successful candidate, you will be involved inSystems Engineering & Safety Assurance (SESA) activities across multiple projects in our Rail & Transit Systems sector within North America.

What a day at EXP has in store for you

  • Support the development of Systems Engineering & Safety Assurance (SESA) tools and processes for the rail & transit sector.
  • Apply principles and processes as defined within ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288: 2015 Systems and software engineering - System life cycle processes, as well as other relevant codes and standards.
  • Ensure that interfaces between disciplines in large projects are identified and controlled throughout the planning, design, construction, and commissioning phases.
    Manage project Interface Control Documents (ICDs) or alternatives.
  • Manage the System Breakdown Structure (SBS) of the project and coordinates with the Project Manager to manage risks to the project schedule.
  • Work with discipline leads to identify interface issues between disciplines, subconsultants and project stakeholders early and to manage risk throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Assign interdisciplinary design packages to manage interfaces that are deemed high-risk or have high levels of uncertainty; for example, design packages that translate logical/communications-based systems to physical structural/civil infrastructure.
  • Capable of leading design packages for systems requiring high levels of interdisciplinary coordination.
  • Co-develop project documentation and plans, such as the SESA Management Plan, Configuration Management Plan, etc.
  • Coordinate with the BIM manager to track systems completion status.
  • Knowledge of RAMS principles and industry-specific standards is a must. INCOSE certification preferred.
  • Develop datasets and tools for bid estimation on projects based on systems integration complexity.
  • Develop tools to be deployed on future projects to accelerate systems interface identification and mitigation - facilitating Agile project management practices.
  • Provide input in bid documents regarding systems integration capabilities and value proposition.
  • Support the win-work team in pursuit of new business opportunities.

  • Electrical/Utilities
  • Structural
  • Tunnel ventilation

What your experience looks like

  • A Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years’ post-graduate experience.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer.
  • In possession of, or an ability to secure a G class driver’s license.
  • Willingness to travel to jobsites and/or vendor locations.
  • Knowledge of Systems Engineering and RAMS principles - INCOSE certification preferred.
  • IRSE certification preferred for Rail projects.
