Role Summary

The QA Lab Technician is responsible to perform visual and destructive weld testing and will report all findings accordingly.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain testing equipment
• Prepare samples and complete analysis on weld samples
• Maintain testing records
• Communicate test results
• Perform capability/reliability studies as required
• Participate in problem solving activities
• Participate in Product, System and Process Audits as required
• Maintain current knowledge of customers product and engineering specifications
• Maintain a clean and tidy work area
• Follow and comply with all Operational Procedures and Policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook, Quality and Environment programs (ie. IATF 16949, ISO14001)
• Understand, promote and live by Magna’s philosophies and Employee Charter
• Adhere to Modatek’s core values; integrity, respect, trust, honesty, fairness and loyalty
• Perform other duties as required

Key Qualifications/Requirements

• Post-secondary education with a Technical diploma
• Three years of automotive, or similar experience in a Lab Environment
• Working knowledge and understanding of quality systems and manufacturing processes
• Ability to use measuring equipment (micrometers, calipers, indicators and height gauges, tensile tester, Pax-it, hardness tester, microscope, polisher, cut-off saw)
• Good mathematical, organizational, problem solving, interpersonal and communication skills
• Proficient in computer programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point etc)
• Demonstrates the ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Ability to uphold confidentiality
• Must be willing to work shifts and be flexible
• Ability to work overtime to meet customer needs

Located in Milton, Ontario, Modatek Systems is a division of Magna International. At Modatek, our dedicated team produce chassis systems utilizing innovative hydroforming, automated welding, and electrostatic coating processes within a large, safety-focused facility.
