About: Vital is seeking a hands-on Supply Chain and Production Planner to join our team. The position is responsible for establishing and executing the supply chain, materials, planning, and logistics processes. This function develops and monitors demand signals, capacity planning, production control, and manufacturing operations, to develop production build plans and short to mid-term supply projections. You will implement processes ensuring the translation of demand into a supply plan to serve business/commercial expectations. You will plan and implement activities related to the timely, cost-effective procurement, inventory control, planning, and quality control of production and non-production materials. What you'll do: Establish, maintain, and oversee processes for identifying, selecting, qualifying, and monitoring suppliers to assure the quality and conformance of purchased materials and assemblies; Develop, implement, and maintain procedures and material control systems to manage costs, streamline procedures, and implement solutions related to the management of the supply base and inventory; Drive the effective implementation of our target Manufacturing Execution System to manage inventory, production demand, and fulfillment as well as the process for introducing new products and materials into manufacturing; Direct and execute Demand and Supply planning to confirm the successful fulfillment of internal and external demand for finished goods products including prototypes, as well as raw materials and subassemblies; Source and supply raw materials, utilities, and outside services to support the needs of the business; Coordinate with finance to establish and monitor inventory metrics (e.g., carrying costs, inventory turns, months on-hand inventory, etc.); Implement a production and inventory control system to confirm the successful scheduling and execution of production builds; Collaborate with the Quality teams to qualify and monitor suppliers, ensuring the quality and consistency of incoming materials; Analyze and make recommendations for appropriate inventory levels based on supplier lead times, the criticality of materials, and the variability of demand forecast; Work with Finance to establish baseline Cost of Goods Sold annually for each finished good product; Develop and monitor key performance indicators for Supply Chain Management (e.g., Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE), Purchase Price Variance (PPV), etc.); Establish strategic plans and objectives to continuously improve the effectiveness of the Supply Chain Management function. What you need: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Supply Chain Management or equivalent; 5-10 years experience in leading Supply Chain Management functions, including Master Scheduling, Procurement, Production and Inventory Control, Logistics, and Distribution activities; APICS certification (e.g. CSCP, CPIM) is desirable; Experience sourcing reagents, chemicals, consumables, and hardware; Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Demonstrated success in early-stage product development and design transfer; Familiarity with the establishment and use of MRP/ERP systems; Expertise in contract negotiation and review; Proven ability to meet tight timelines, multi-task, and prioritize workload. Bonus points for: Experience in development and manufacturing life science and IVD instrumentation and consumables; Experience with ISO 13485, and GMP; Experience with relevant FDA Class II medical device and IVD certification criteria; An appreciation of puns!
