JOB OVERVIEW

Reporting to an AME-S Shift Lead, the AME-S is an experienced licensed mechanic responsible for performing line and heavy maintenance in a safe and efficient manner.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The AME-S is expected to be able to demonstrate his/her capability to understand and perform the following functions under minimal supervision:

Technical

  • Complete basic inspection tasks
    1. Inspection of aircraft structures in accordance with Service Bulletins, AD's and aircraft manuals
    2. Inspection and assessment of corrosion and damage to aircraft structures
  • Design and layout a structural repair manual (SRM) repair with minimal assistance
    1. Construction and set up of jigs and fixtures
  • Complete all general repairs
    1. Sealant of metal and composite surfaces
    2. Installation of fasteners
    3. Treatment of metals and corrosion
    4. Assembly and fitting of parts
    5. Repair, replace, and modify metal alloy and composite structures
    6. Fabrication of sheet metal parts
    7. Ability to source and use correct composite materials for bonding a fastener or simple repair
    8. Understanding of aircraft fastener codes and uses/installations
  • Complete all repairs from SRM, SB, AD and Engineering drawings
  • Sourcing appropriate calibrated tooling for the jobs
  • Sign off on own work and the work of others where endorsed
  • Safely operates all ground equipment
  • Complete any assigned tasks in a timely manner
  • Take responsibility for quality of own work and fix mistakes where required and with zero rework
    1. Conscious of fabrication waste and tooling damage
  • Ability to work away from base as required

Documentation & Administration

  • Ensures appropriate documentation for his/her own work is completed accurately and on time and submitted to senior AME or Shift Lead for ACA approval as required for ACA approval in areas where they do not have an endorsement
  • Sources required technical information in maintenance manuals in an accurate and timely manner
  • Ability to complete M3 processes and procedures correctly

Safety

Applying safe work practices in all job duties, including:

  • Wearing all appropriate PPE (personal protective equipment)
  • Understanding and applying the Risk Management System
  • Understanding and applying Health & Safety Policies
  • Maintaining good housekeeping and cleanliness standards of your own and adjacent work areas
  • Understanding and applying safe handling practices with the aircraft

Mentoring and Developing Others

The AME-S uses his/her own technical knowledge and experience to provide training and development to apprentices in the areas of Technical, Safety and Documentation by:

  • Communicating required information and testing for understanding
  • Being open and available for questions
  • Acting as crew resource for company information
  • Role modeling professional conduct and positive customer orientation
  • Acting as the lead of sub-crews on jobs as required.

Tool Control

  • Complies with the KF Tool Control policy found in Production Manual Section 10-1


REQUIREMENTS

Certification & Experience

  • Transport Canada 'S' license
  • The AME-S has a minimum of 2+ year's experience

  • Ability to learn and understand KF organizational systems and workflow
  • Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Able to effectively train apprentices and lead the crew as required
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with Intranet
  • Willing to pursue type endorsements with recommendation of Shift Lead
  • Willing to pursue additional company training as required
  • Thorough understanding of Transport Canada regulations
  • Working knowledge of the types of aircraft supported by KF

Other

  • Must be physically fit
  • Flexibility to work any type of shift
  • Current Schedule includes a mix of mostly Days shift (7am-5:30pm), Afternoon shirt (2pm-12am), and some weekends
  • Modified work schedule, working 4 days per week/10 hours per day
