RVA is looking for two engineers to join their Transportation team in the Toronto and London offices in a full-time permanent position.

Duties:

  • Preparation, coordination, and management of preliminary and final designs for road reconstruction and infrastructure renewal projects, including grading and paving, drainage, watermain, sanitary sewers, culverts, retaining walls, noise walls, etc.
  • Providing project engineering and technical expertise, modeling, analysis and design services on multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Participating in studies, assessments, cost estimates, specifications, contract documents, tendering and contract administration.
  • Preparation and coordination of approvals for above-noted projects and coordination with utilities.
  • Preparation and editing of AutoCAD/Civil 3D and/or MicroStation/InRoads design drawings as required.
  • Support RVA project managers in the completion of technical analysis, client and stakeholder liaison, project management, and proposal preparation for a variety of public and private sector clients.
  • Ability to work effectively with consultants, contractors, developers, elected officials, and other internal and external clients and stakeholders to meet deliverables on multiple projects at any given time.
  • Mentoring and coaching project teams including technical and field staff.
  • Other duties as appropriate for this position.

Qualifications:

  • A university degree in Civil Engineering with experience in municipal infrastructure and transportation designing.
  • Must hold or be eligible to hold (within 6 months) an active P. Eng. designation with the ability to practice in the province of Ontario.
  • Proficient in engineering principles, design analysis and problem solving.
  • 5-10 years' progressive experience in conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design of roadway and servicing is essential.
  • Experience in third party utility relocation and coordination is an asset.
  • Experience and proficient skill in the use of current design tools such as AutoCAD/Civil3D, MicroStation and InRoads.
  • Experience in design engineering for various municipal and provincial agencies including design and construction standards.
  • Practical knowledge of construction sequencing and constructability.
  • Ability and willingness to develop and maintain relationships with clients, RVA team members, subconsultants, subcontractors, client's contractors and stakeholders to a project.
  • Aptitude for meeting timelines and budgets.
  • Experience in proposal writing, client development and other skills appropriate to consulting is an asset.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Tools such as Excel, Word and MS Project.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative, team environment.
  • Excellent English communication skills both oral and written.
