The Position

As an Experienced Heavy Truck Mechanic, you will play a crucial role in diagnosing and repairing vehicles, performing regular maintenance tasks, and ensuring a safe and organized workspace. Your expertise in identifying and resolving issues, along with your proficiency in using various tools and equipment, will contribute to our continued success in the traffic control industry.


What you will be responsible for:

  • Perform service, maintenance, repair, and overhaul following manufacturers' recommendations.
  • Prioritize safety as the highest priority in the workplace.
  • Respond to maintenance requests by conducting equipment repairs at in-shop or in-field locations.
  • Repair heavy trucks and medium trucks, removing and replacing components.
  • Utilize diagnostic procedures and test equipment to identify and correct equipment faults.
  • Conduct mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electric, and electronic analyses and diagnoses.
  • Operate shop equipment, including hoists, welders, compressors, presses, grinders, and heavy hand tools.
  • Safely lift, move, and install heavy parts and assemblies using basic tooling and personal protective equipment.
  • Assist other mechanics and members of the Beacon Lite team as required.


What we need from you:

  • Must possess a valid 310T or 310S License.
  • Valid driver's license (G-Class).
  • Demonstrated ability to follow through on instructions, work with minimal supervision, and use required computer/telephone applications.
  • High school diploma/GED and at significant experience repairing and maintaining heavy equipment.
  • Knowledge and proper use of special tools/equipment required to perform assigned maintenance tasks
  • Thorough understanding of engine operations, accessories, and components.
  • Good physical health and dexterity, as the job often requires lifting heavy objects up to 100 lbs and working in awkward positions.
  • Punctuality and reliability are essential.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with customers and team members.

    When/where you'll be working:

    • 9 am to 5 pm, Monday to Friday with occasional work on Saturday
