About the Role

As an Intermediate Structural Engineer at Egis Canada, you will be an integral past of our engineering team, contributing to the design, analysis and execution of various structural projects. Your primary responsibilities will involve the design and evaluation of structures for buildings, ensuring they meet safety standards, codes and client specifications. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

As a member of our Building Engineering team, your duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Preparing engineering service proposals for senior review;
  • Performing field inspection and review for various construction projects;
  • Liaising with clients, government and/or regulatory bodies as well as contractors;
  • Leading the engineering design and managing the project team, schedule and budget on a variety of projects;
  • Providing technical direction and peer review for junior team members;
  • Designing and stamping medium to complex designs;
  • Preparing specifications and drawings for building permit and tender;
  • Maintaining a technical advisory role for clients throughout the project term;
  • Overseeing and providing construction review services;
  • Preparing technical specifications and reports;
  • Work in collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful delivery of projects;
  • Work in compliance with all Health & Safety rules and regulations;
  • Other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Completion of a university degree in Structural Engineering;
  • At least 5 years of design experience on structural engineering projects;
  • Experience with residential light timber design will be an asset;
  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer in Ontario, in good standing or the ability to obtain designation within 6 months;
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer within the Province of Quebec will be considered an asset;
  • Familiar with Part 9 of the National Building Code of Canada and Canadian design standards;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products as well as AutoCAD and Revit;
  • Experience with structural finite element engineering design software such as SFRAME, ETABS, SAP, Woodworks, etc.;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English;
  • Ability to communicate in French will be considered an asset;
  • Strong attention to detail, problem solving skills, time management and organizational skills;
  • Ability to work effectively independently or as part of a team;
  • Possess a valid driver's license with access to a vehicle with valid registration and insurance.
