At Taggart Investments, Tartan Homes, and Tamarack Homes, our Land Development Coordinator/Planner plays a crucial role in shaping the future of residential communities. Part of the esteemed Taggart Group of Companies, our Land Development department focuses on acquiring, developing, and managing residential lands to support new home construction in Ottawa and Kingston. As we continue to evolve our development strategy, we are seeking dynamic individuals to join us in the role of Land Development Coordinator. Key Impact Areas:


  • Administrative Excellence: The Land Development Coordinator spearheads administrative support for the land development team, ensuring the seamless collection, documentation, and distribution of information. This foundational role contributes to the efficient functioning of the development lifecycle.
  • Documenting Development Progress: By preparing various documents and meticulously maintaining files at every stage of development, the Coordinator ensures a comprehensive record of progress. This supports transparency and accountability throughout the development process.
  • Strategic Information Dissemination: Ensuring the proper internal dissemination of the most up-to-date project information is a critical responsibility. This fosters a collaborative environment and enhances communication within the land development team.
  • Development Applications Expertise: The Coordinator assists in the preparation and filing of development applications with municipalities, showcasing a keen understanding of the development approvals process and relevant legislation.
  • Project Reporting: The Coordinator actively creates, tracks, and consolidates weekly reports on project activity and critical paths. This data-driven approach ensures that all stakeholders are informed and that projects stay on course.
  • Master Project Scheduling: Playing a key role in creating and tracking master project schedules, the Coordinator ensures accurate billing, monitors progress, and promptly addresses any discrepancies. This contributes to effective project management.
  • Stakeholder Communication: The Coordinator supports the preparation of various communications, letters, reports, packages, and presentations for multiple stakeholders. This comprehensive approach enhances communication and engagement with diverse parties involved in the development process.
  • Meeting Facilitation and Coordination: Attending internal and external meetings, preparing meeting materials, and coordinating logistics demonstrate the Coordinator's commitment to effective collaboration and streamlined communication.
  • Field Presence: Regular site visits and attendance at meetings related to projects underline the Coordinator's hands-on approach to project management, ensuring a deep understanding of on-site dynamics.
  • Collaborative Liaison: Establishing effective communication channels with consultants, municipal staff, and internal departments, the Coordinator ensures that all project elements align seamlessly.


Qualifications for Impact

To excel in this impactful role, candidates should possess:

  • Post-secondary education in engineering, architecture, architectural design, urban design, planning, or a related field.
  • One year of experience in a similar role would be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of the development approvals process and applicable legislation.
  • Strong organizational, administrative, and interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to read and provide feedback on engineering and landscape drawings, as well as various engineering/design reports.
  • Familiarity with project-specific budgeting and cash flow.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Photoshop, and Microsoft Project would be considered an asset.
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to travel throughout the city.

Physical/Sensory Effort/Work Environment:

  • Working primarily in an office environment with occasional meeting on construction sites.
  • Provide service to multiple people or departments, working under many simultaneous deadlines.
  • Willingness to be mobile as the role requires work to be performed primarily in the office but also on-site.
  • Overtime as required.
