Your Contribution

As a Pre-Construction Survey Technician and Coordinator, you will work in collaboration with the Ottawa Instrumentation and Monitoring team, your main responsibilities will be:

Pre-Construction Surveying (30 to 50%) – In the Field:

  • Providing pre-construction and pre-blast surveys prior to the commencement of blasting and construction activities to record the existing conditions of buildings and structures. These surveys are carried out in a predetermined area in order to protect building owners, as well as contractors, in the event of a damage claim resulting from construction or blasting activities;
  • In conjunction with field investigations such as pre-blast surveys and vibration monitoring, conduct damage claim investigations and provide expert witness testimonies; and,
  • Apply and promote Englobe’s health and safety rules.

Survey Coordination (50 to 70%) – In the Office:

  • Coordinate surveys with PMs, technicians, clients, and property managers/owners;
  • Meet weekly with Team Lead and project team to discuss project status and scheduling issues;
  • Upload and update information in scheduling database as required;
  • Receive phone calls and emails, and schedule survey appointments;
  • Write and organize technician schedules, send updates and schedule changes to technicians and PMs as they occur, providing sufficient notice;
  • Perform quality and quantity control checks on all survey materials;
  • Maintain filing systems and databases (includes accurate data entry and follow-up);
  • Prepare and manage all survey correspondence and reports; and,
  • Perform any other office duties required to completed pre-construction survey projects.

Your Profile

  • Not necessary but an asset: degree in an technology-based field or other applicable diploma;
  • Not necessary but an asset: experience with scheduling or project coordination;
  • Valid provincial driver’s license and access to reliable transportation;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and able to carry out assignments with minimal supervision;
  • Enjoys working both in and out of the office;
  • Comfortable lifting up to 50 lbs;
  • Comfortable dealing with the public over the phone, through email, and in person;
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Strives for exactness while maintaining efficiency, has a high attention to detail;
  • Knowledgeable about Microsoft Office Suite (specifically Excel and Teams), comfortable working remotely on phone or computer;
  • Consistently executing prescribed technical procedures, safe work practices and work plans in a safe, efficient manner; and,
  • Demonstrated sensitivity and consideration for occupational health and safety.
