Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible for providing project management in relation to facility construction, building upgrades, and renovation projects. The position will bring expertise and guidance with respect to design and where appropriate and will establish system performance qualities. The incumbent will have a track record of successfully managing multiple projects concurrently with knowledge of construction site operations and safety standards.

Qualifications:

The incumbent must possess the following qualifications:
• In-depth understanding of various construction methodologies, including traditional, design-build, construction management and at risk and integrated delivery methods
• Knowledge of the latest trends and innovations in construction technology and methodologies
• Knowledge of municipal, and provincial building codes and regulations
• Stays abreast of updates and changes to building codes and ensures project compliance
• Familiarity with construction methods and the ability to recommend suitable materials for specific project requirements
• Ability to accurately estimate construction costs, considering labour, materials, equipment, and overhead
• Experience in developing detailed cost estimates for project budgeting
• Knowledge in developing project schedules and construction sequences
• Ability to identify potential risks in construction projects and develop risk mitigation strategies
• Experience in promoting and enforcing a culture of safety on construction sites
• Proficient in managing contracts with contractors, subcontractors, and vendors
• Familiarity with standard construction contract terms and conditions.
• Experience in identifying and implementing cost-saving measures during the design and construction phases.
• Understanding of various building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and structural systems.
• Collaboration with specialists to ensure integration and efficiency of building systems.
• Knowledge of sustainable construction practices and green building principles.
• Experience in incorporating environmentally friendly practices into construction projects.

Education and Experience:

The above is normally acquired through the completion of:
• Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, or a related field or an equivalencies of education and experience
• Minimum of seven years of previous project management of facility construction, building upgrades, and renovation projects experience including five years of leadership and management experience
