Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Work with project team to ensure on-time project completion.
  • Design and assist in the preparation of fire protection drawings and schematics, adhering to NFPA standards and building codes.
  • Coordinate sprinkler system piping with other building components and perform hydraulic calculations.
  • Coordinate with other consulting disciplines to ensure drawing integrity and completeness.
  • Read and interpret construction documents, including drawings, specifications, and contracts.
  • Apply applicable Building code and NFPA standards to the design and classify the hazard and construction type.
  • Perform site investigation to verify the existing site condition, if required.
  • Perform system hydraulic calculations.
  • Calculate material and equipment requirements and setting up shop drawings using AutoCAD.
  • Review architectural and structural drawings.
  • Perform general duties as required such as printing, plotting, scanning, conversion, quantity take-offs and measurement.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Post-secondary Diploma or Certificate in Fire Protection or a related field.
  • 3+ years of work experience in fire protection design.
  • Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD and other software programs as required.
  • Experience with ESFR & High-piled Storage Application is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of the Building Code and NFPA standards.
  • Knowledge of HydraCALC and applicable codes.
  • Ability to meet deadlines/successful completion of deliverables.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to work under pressure on various tasks.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience using Revit.
  • Valid Ontario Driver's License.

This position is full time and located in Scarborough. Applicants must be eligible to work in Canada.
