We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Construction Manager - IBT to join our team in Vaughan.

As a member of Controls leadership team, the mission of the Construction Manager will be to provide oversight and solutions to ensure the successful execution of various projects by directly leading a team of project managers and coordinators. Working under the guidance and supervision of the Director of Controls, the Construction Manager will possess in-depth knowledge of construction execution, project management principles, building technologies and client relationships.

OVERVIEW OF RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Actively participating and contributing in estimating turnover, and pre-construction meetings.
  • Ensuring the successful completion of a portfolio assigned projects, their profitability, and client retention.
  • Establishing project objectives, policies, procedures and performance standards within the boundaries of Modern Niagara policies.
  • Monitoring and controlling construction progress through administrative direction of on-site project personnel to ensure projects progress on schedule and within budget.
  • Close collaboration with the mechanical and electrical divisions of Modern Niagara.
  • Mentorship, coaching and supervision of Project Managers and administrative staff.
  • Ensuring optimum utilization of labour, material and other resources across all projects.
  • Managing financial aspects of contracts to protect the company's interests.
  • Assisting with reviews and negotiation of contracts; liaising with legal counsel as appropriate in conjunction with the Management Team.
  • Developing, recommending and implementing project plans upon project award.
  • Monitoring and controlling progress, costs and budgets throughout the project.
  • Overseeing monthly forecasting activities.
  • Maintaining relationships with suppliers & subcontractors.
  • Advising the Management Team on project status and results in a timely fashion.
  • Resolving disputes between the Company and owner, or Company and subcontractors.
  • Identifying required and optional changes in project scope; negotiating COs with the owner.
  • Ensuring members of the project team understand and follow Modern Niagara's operating policies and practices.
  • Adhering to Modern Niagara's safety standards.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 8-12 years' experience in the construction industry in a Project Management capacity, specifically on large projects in large commercial or institutional sector.
  • Experience working with Building Controls and Integrated Building Technology required
  • Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction (technology, equipment, materials, negotiation, engineering, estimating, scheduling, finance, billing, accounting, and safety).
  • Experience with a variety of project delivery methods, including design build and P3s
  • Strong financial acumen and experience working with data and analytics.
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills required.
  • Must be able to apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize performance.
