We've recently also opened up Scooped by Demetres - our ice cream only experience, and we've launched our ice creams into grocery stores!

About The Role:

Working at our corporate head office R&D facility, you'll lead our ice cream, cakes, and dessert innovation. You will be coming up with new ice creams, new cakes, new desserts, new techniques, and new ideas.

It's all about food excellence and food innovation. Create dessert ideas that are aligned with our brand ethos while pushing culinary boundaries. We want to develop the world's best slice of cake.

This is not an in-store or line-cook position. This is strictly R&D in our bakery.

We're looking to improve on a 30+ year dessert game - we're good, but forever endeavour to be better.

Responsibilities:
-Develop cakes, brownies, sauces, toppings, and other desserts

-Develop ice cream flavours as well as new dairy-free sorbets

-Research emerging food trends, taste profiles, techniques, & equipment

-Reengineer our existing products to continuously improve quality, taste, and consistency

-Liaise with our bakery production team to roll out new recipes and fine-tweak processes

-Collaborate with store operations teams to optimize in-store execution of desserts

-Source and negotiate new ingredients with vendors

-Create recipe and training manuals


About You

You genuinely adore food and desserts. You love coming up with great flavours and you love the thinking and science behind it. You're obsessive about doing well and making sure tomorrow's desserts are better than today's.

Drive, attitude, and personality aside, we're looking for people with a mix of the skills below. No one is magic. We believe many skills are transferrable, and the best people always learn. If you are pretty close or just missing a few items, don't fret. Everyone has something to learn.


Your Skills:

-A strong pastry, cake and overall dessert development background - whether that's relevant schooling, work experience, or any other solid relevant experience.

-A scientific, meticulous, and research-based approach to new techniques & product development and sourcing

-An insatiable curiosity about flavour and new ideas

-Ice cream experience an asset but not required (we will teach)

-Ability to work well with our R&D, production, store operations, and executive teams

-Strong self-motivation with initiative and a get-it-done attitude

This is a salaried with benefits, full time, Mon-Fri 9AM-5PM position.

This is in our state of the art Vaughan office and R&D facility located on Strada Drive near Highway 7 & Pine Valley (close to Hwy 400 & Hwy 407).
