DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Acting as a Senior Electrical Engineer for MTO and Municipal preliminary and detail design electrical transportation projects;
  • Preparing preliminary and detailed design projects as part of both small and large scale multi-disciplinary projects for public and private sector clients. Services include highway/roadway lighting, and traffic signal design;
  • Providing mentorship, technical guidance, support, and oversight to other engineers and technical staff working on projects;
  • Ensuring that corporate and client QA/QC practices are completed on all projects;
  • Coordinating with clients, approval agencies, utility companies, contractors, etc.;
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with industry professionals, consultants and other business leaders;
  • Preparation of technical reports, contract documents, design drawings, quantity estimates, cost estimates, and PHM-125 drawings for traffic signals;
  • Providing guidance and oversight in the preparation of proposals, developing work proposal/project work plans, schedules, budgets, fees. and negotiations;
  • Providing overall work progress and technical performance on highway engineering projects to ensure timelines and targets are being met;
  • Working with senior management in the Electrical and Highway Engineering Teams to execute strategic growth and business initiatives;
  • Supporting with Electrical projects across Canada;
  • Reviewing vendor drawings for approval;
  • Completing lighting analysis using AGi32;
  • Providing technical and administrative support at all stages of the project, from proposal to construction; and
  • Providing construction support, including commissioning and site inspections as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • University degree in Electrical Engineering with a specific focus on roadway lighting and traffic signals;
  • 10+ years of progressive related experience in electrical design for road and highway projects, including high mast lighting design, conventional lighting design, traffic signal design projects, including active transportation on MTO design projects.;
  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in the province of Ontario;
  • Has developed an excellent reputation working with MTO and other Municipalities in Ontario;
  • Ability to be approved in the MTO RAQS system for the Major and Minor Electrical Work Categories;
  • Proficient with AGi32, Autolux, and AutoCAD;
  • Experienced with project management and has worked in, or has an understanding of the consulting engineering environment;
  • Thorough knowledge in Highway/Transportation Engineering including policies, regulations, guidelines and operational procedures;
  • Demonstrated experience in electrical design for highway and road preliminary and detail design projects with proven design capabilities;
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team, with clients and other relevant stakeholders;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills and ability to think creatively;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to work effectively independently or as part of a team;
  • Possess a valid driver's license and have access to a vehicle with valid registration and insurance; and
  • Demonstrated aptitude for, and interest in, business development and proposal preparation.
