At Équipement SMS , the Junior Mechanical Engineer reports to the Senior Product Support Manager. The Mechanical Engineering Technician will be responsible for preparing drawings, plans and other technical documents required for the realization of manufacturing or modification projects for various machinery. This position is located in Laval.

The schedule for this position is 5x2.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to :

Technical drawings

  • Prepare, review and annotate drawings and plans required for a project;
  • Correct or modify drawings and plans;
  • Perform various basic design tasks;
  • Visit workshops and/or construction sites to gather information (measurements, photos, etc.).
  • Prepare technical documents;
  • Develop, document and revise a standard design catalog;
  • Participate in establishing and updating required standards;
  • Participate in technical review committee;
  • Complete assigned deliverables on time.

Project management

  • Monitor and document drawings and standards.
  • Ensure approval activities for machine modifications.
  • Validate technical component selections, prepare purchase requisitions and ensure completion of documents and drawings required for equipment production.
  • Plan and supervise delivery, installation and commissioning activities.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have DEC or DEP in industrial or technical drawing.

Additional requirements include :

  • 5 to 10 years of relevant experience;
  • Excellent knowledge of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic concepts;
  • Demonstrate an excellent understanding of manufacturing processes;
  • Proficiency in Solidworks and Autocad;
  • Proficiency in Office suite software.
  • Team player;
  • Bilingual in French and English;
  • Communicate effectively and maintain good interpersonal relations;
  • Demonstrate open-mindedness;
  • Demonstrate adaptability;
  • Respect deadlines;
  • Be rigorous and meticulous
