Join our dynamic team of lawyers and contracts specialists overseeing custom agreements with business, enterprise, and public sector customers.

As Contracts Manager, you will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to draft, negotiate, and advise on corporate contracts, ensuring compliance and minimizing risk. Your role involves influencing outcomes, driving deals to closure, and communicating contract terms effectively.

What you'll do

  • Draft and review custom corporate agreements under tight timelines
  • Cooperate with internal stakeholders with respect to commercial and legal aspects of a deal
  • Advise on compliance, risk, strategy and positioning of contractual terms to assist internal teams in decision-making
  • Review redlines, provide recommendations, and negotiate with corporate customers with a view of minimizing risk to TELUS
  • Collaborate with Product and Legal teams to draft and review terms and conditions for new product offerings
  • Ensure consistent application of contracts, as well as compliance with regulatory and internal contractual requirements
  • Develop legal contractual responses for Request for Proposals (RFPs)
  • Recommend changes to standard contract templates and terms based on regulatory and technological landscape, business practices, as well as with a view of assuring revenue to TELUS
  • Recommend and implement contract management best practices
  • Provide guidance to internal stakeholders on contractual matters
  • Provide training to internal teams to ensure compliance, and an understanding of contractual issues and processes

Qualifications

What you bring

  • Law degree (LLB or JD) from an accredited university
  • At least 2 years of experience in commercial contract drafting and negotiation, especially with service agreements, software licensing, SaaS, and/or professional service agreements
  • Strong understanding of contract and commercial law
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Excellent negotiation, business judgment, and influence skills
  • Strong business and financial acumen. Ability to apply strategic judgment based on financial and risk analysis
  • Proven ability to build relationships and to maintain effective partnerships with stakeholders, including senior leaders
  • Thrives in a fast paced dynamic environment, with the ability to manage a number of deliverables under tight timelines and to adapt to change

Great-to-haves

  • Proficient (written and spoken) in both English and in French in order to work in a professional work environment
  • Knowledge of technology contracts, regulatory and privacy landscape
  • An interest in Artificial Intelligence and familiarity with contract management tools
