Your future role on our team

You’ll be part of our mechanical team specialized in pumping and piping. You’ll encounter a variety of situations to develop your technical pumping skills for various industrial process applications such as water, tailings and slurry pumping, mine dewatering, cooling or heating systems and fuel pumping. You’ll also play an active role in commissioning and troubleshooting pumping systems.

Your role as engineer will be to participate in engineering, in selecting technology and in executing projects in the mining, energy, biofuels and heavy industry sectors; to help identify business opportunities with clients; and to draft winning proposals. You’ll play a primarily technical and project management role in the mandates assigned to you. You’ll contribute to developing the firm by maintaining business relationships with clients. You’ll work in the greater Montréal area, at our Montréal offices.

  • Lead and participate in project design studies and detailed engineering.
  • Help write technical reports.
  • Lead the design of plans, specifications and details executed by a work team.
  • Perform design calculations and ensure that plans meet guidelines as well as code requirements and other regulations.
  • Prepare material lists and bills of materials according to codes, standards, drawings and other established methods in accordance with BBA’s quality system requirements.
  • Provide recommendations on establishing standards and other practical applications.
  • Assist more experienced staff with the technical aspects of more complex tasks.
  • Coordinate the work of drafters or other team members.
  • Assign and review the work of less experienced engineers, technicians and support staff.
  • Make technical choices on designs that need to be established, provide recommendations and make important decisions on highly technical or complex issues.
  • Ensure work complies with established budgets, estimates, procedures and schedules.
  • Accompany, support and train young engineers under your supervision.
  • Plan, organize, lead and coordinate projects.
  • Perform technical information surveys.
  • Help commission and troubleshoot systems.
  • Participate in technical audits on site.
  • Help draft proposals.
  • Identify business needs.

Overview of certifications and job requirements

  • University degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering and a member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec
  • From 10 to 15 years of experience
  • Experience in Mechanical Engineering in the heavy industry, energy or mining sectors
  • Fluent in French, spoken and written
  • Strong knowledge of one or more of the following fields: pumping, piping or stress analysis
  • Available for short-, medium- and long-term work assignments outside the office
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office Suite and other applications, databases and interfaces
  • Relevant experience in project management, cost estimation, drafting technical reports and troubleshooting
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s licence
  • Knowledge of numerical simulation software (AFT Fathom, PIPE-FLO or others)
  • Asset: Bilingual (English and French)
  • Asset: ASP Construction card
