BBA has an established Renewable Power business line and wants to strengthen its position in the booming Québec market where over 10GW of new wind power capacity is expected to be commissioned by 2035.
BBA is a matrix organization, and the Wind and Solar business line has a national focus. It's responsible for defining the strategy and overall sector performance. The business line relies on BBA's operational teams and disciplines across Canada to execute its mandates and projects, while, at times, also directly managing and executing certain strategic projects.

An overview of your future role at BBA

In this technical leadership role as the Wind Energy Lead, you will be responsible for developing business opportunities, overseeing team, skillset, tools, service development, managing projects and executing mandates. You'll leverage your expertise, knowledge of the industry, client and vendor relationships and engineering experience to achieve BBA's objectives.

An overview of your mandates and responsibilities

Operations

  • Oversee delivery and day to day execution of wind, solar and energy storage projects.
  • Serve as a project manager to select strategic projects and clients.
  • Provide expertise and guidance to both BBA's clients and project teams.
  • Conduct technical reviews and oversee engineering and design activities.
  • Engage with BBA's operational teams and disciplines across Canada.
  • Execute technical and strategic mandates daily, based on areas of expertise and in coordination with BBA's internal disciplines located across Canada.

Business development

  • Maintain knowledge of energy market trends.
  • Build and maintain strong professional relationships with key stakeholders in the renewable energy and electricitysectors in Québec and other regions.
  • Support execution of the strategy and action plan.
  • Support positioning for upcoming opportunities, generate proposals and implement a pursuit/capture strategy.
  • Cross sell the services of other divisions within other business lines.
  • Support the development of a medium- and long-term pipeline.

Capability development

  • Actively contribute to building competence and skills (recruitment, training, partnerships, etc.).
  • Support the development of BBA's National Wind service line, with a specific focus in Eastern Canada.
  • Develop tools and a model database.
  • Participate in industry and thought leadership activities (white papers, panelist, presenter at conferences, etc.).

Overview of job requirements

  • Engineering degree, with professional engineering registration in Canada
  • Knowledge of the Canadian and North American wind energy markets
  • Experience with wind project development and engineering
  • Experience with trade-off studies
  • Broad knowledge of the renewable energy and/or the electric power sector
  • At least 10 years of experience with a minimum of 5 years of experience in the wind energy sector
  • Project management proficiency
  • Strong knowledge of wind energy technologies and OEMs
  • Strong communications, soft and relationship building skills
  • Extremely versatile; thrive on a wide variety of tasks and challenges
  • Strong and demonstrated critical thinking skills
  • Ability to travel within Canada, to the USA and to international destinations
  • Fluent in French and English
  • Assets:
    - Construction/commissioning supervision and/or coordination experience
    - Experience with solar PV, battery energy storage systems
    - Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Québec.
