P&H is the largest Canadian-owned milling company. The P&H Milling Group sources wheat from Western Canada, Ontario, Quebec, and Atlantic Canada to produce quality flour and cereal products. The lineup includes hard red spring wheat flour for breads and other bakery products, soft winter wheat flour for cakes and cookies, as well as semolina flour for pasta, organic flour, and atta flour for chappati. In our specialty milling operation in Saskatoon, we also mill pea fractions.

Your Role

Join our team that shares your Passion & Heart for Canadian agriculture! Parrish & Heimbecker, Limited (P&H) has an opportunity for a motivated, forward-thinking, and dedicated individual as a Certified Electrician with P&H Milling Group based in Saskatoon, SK.

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Journeyman Electrician is responsible for the repair of plant electrical and mechanical equipment in an efficient, timely and safe manner ensuring the safety of everyone on site as well as maintaining efficiency of production.

Day to Day

  • Maintain a safe working environment by ensuring Health & Safety programs, policies and procedures are being followed.
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance tasks and work orders throughout the plant, ensuring they are completed in a timely manner and in compliance with safety rules and standards.
  • Conduct repair, maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment and systems such as Electrical, Mechanical, Electromechanical, Pneumatic, Hydraulic and PLC.
  • Perform weekly scheduled maintenance on planned shutdown in order to achieve plant and equipment efficiency as well as building maintenance, when required.
  • Conduct routine plant inspections, identify equipment malfunction, and provide observations and recommended corrective actions to Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Perform and/or assist in the testing and calibration of machines and equipment
  • Abide by routine maintenance procedure and effectively utilize the preventative maintenance software in conducting service routines.
  • Monitor spare parts inventory level and provide the Maintenance Supervisor with this information as reference for procurement plan.
  • Comply with high standards for product quality, housekeeping, and sanitation in accordance with GMP, Food Safety and Brand Reputation Compliance Global Standards (BRCGS) procedures.
  • Maintain documents and records in accordance with all relevant Quality and Safety policies and procedures.
  • Attend safety meetings, trainings and certifications as required.

Required Qualifications

Preference in candidates that are interested in working towards achieving certification in the millwright trade as a part of their career development.
  • Certified Journeyman Electrician.
  • Red Seal Certificate is an asset.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as an Electrician, preferably in an industrial environment.
  • Working knowledge and experience with Programmable Logic Control (PLC), VFD's and troubleshooting, pneumatics, mechanical, hydraulics, rotating equipment, and electric systems.
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.).
  • Excellent troubleshooting, analytical and multi-tasking skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Self-directed, able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work on a rotating schedule for after-hours calls and weekends.
