About this opportunity:

This position provides regulatory and compliance support to Lima Refining Company (LRC). The main purpose of this role will be record keeping and reporting related to air compliance programs. The successful candidate must have the necessary level of education to not only understand the refinery operations but also learn how the regulations apply to the operation. The job scope applies environmental requirements across multiple process units.

The position has site-wide scope and day-to-day interaction with refinery personnel and contractors. There are no direct reports, and minimum discretionary spending authority associated with the role. The Environmental Engineer is expected to have the knowledge and skills to acquire the information necessary to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and permit obligations. This position helps deploy site environmental compliance processes and actively engages all workforce.

Responsibilities:

  • Support refinery operations in day-to-day compliance with environmental regulations, specifically in the area of Air Compliance

  • Ensure that recordkeeping, and reporting requirements related to areas of responsibility are satisfied

  • Supports Senior Environmental Engineers in preparing technical reports and performing necessary compliance calculations

  • Support the Environmental Department in providing guidance to questions from the technical, operating, and maintenance organizations

  • Support the Environmental Department in reviewing and updating department databases and spreadsheets for completeness and accuracy

  • Compile and review site environmental data and trends and summarize results to identify continuous improvement opportunities

  • Provides support to MOC, turnarounds and capital projects by completing environmental checklists to ensure environmental issues are identified and addressed

  • Perform emissions calculations and learn the impact of various operating conditions on emissions

  • Responsible for any environmental tasks assigned to manage the environmental department workload and site environmental compliance

  • Creates, develops, and implements projects, programs, and assigned initiatives with support from Senior Environmental Engineers

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Civil, or Environmental Engineering or related Science degree required

  • Between 0-2 years of Environmental engineering experience equivalent in refining or petrochemical industry (including Co-Op time) preferred
