About this opportunity:

The Manager, Projects role leads all aspects of the planning and safe completion of large, planned maintenance initiatives and capital construction projects across the refinery, ensuring that these are safely completed on-time, on-budget, and to-scale.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the end-to-end delivery of major Maintenance & Construction projects from initial technical design and planning through to safe field execution and delivery

  • Oversees contract negotiations with third party vendors in conjunction with relevant internal partners for the safe delivery of major Maintenance & Construction projects

  • Liaises with Field Coordinators and project management teams to ensure the safe delivery and execution of major Maintenance & Construction projects by third party vendors

  • Oversees the definition of major Maintenance & Construction project parameters including safety, budget, and timelines in coordination with the project controls resource

  • Oversees the determination of scope of projects for the Major Maintenance & Construction function in coordination with the Worklist Coordinator and Lima Development Committee (LDC)

  • Provides input to the LDC on behalf of the Major Maintenance & Construction function into the projects that require funding in the next year

  • Ensures and articulates a culture of safety throughout all site activities

Qualifications:

Education/Certifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering required

  • Master's degree considered an asset

  • Professional Engineer License considered an asset

  • Project Management Professional Certification considered an asset

Experience:

  • Minimum ten years of refinery project experience required

  • Five years of management experience required

  • Planning and scheduling experience required

  • Understanding of project management processes required

  • Familiarity with contracts of services and materials required

  • Cost estimating experience required

  • Knowledge of standards and technical specifications required

  • Ten years of experience in petrochemical environment considered an asset

  • More than ten years of heavy industrial project experience considered an asset

Technical Skills:

  • Strong people management and coordination capabilities required

  • Strategic understanding of Construction project operations required

  • Strategic understanding of Major Maintenance project operations required

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills required

  • Strong collaborative working skills required
