Ciena Installation Technician - 3 Month Contract

Ciena Level 3 Installation Technician We are looking for an experienced Ciena Level 3 Installation Technician to support telecommunications installation, integration, testing, and commissioning activities. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working with Ciena optical transport and packet networking equipment in carrier, data centre, central office, or telecom environments. Responsibilities Install, rack, mount, and cable Ciena telecommunications equipment Perform equipment installation in accordance with engineering drawings, installation standards, and customer requirements Install and terminate power, grounding, fibre, Ethernet, and associated cabling Perform fibre cleaning, inspection, connection, and basic optical testing Verify equipment power-up and complete initial hardware checks Support equipment configuration, integration, testing, and commissioning Perform card, module, SFP, QSFP, and hardware installation or replacement Complete continuity, power, alarm, and connectivity testing Troubleshoot installation, cabling, fibre, power, and hardware-related issues Perform equipment upgrades, migrations, cutovers, and removals as required Follow Method of Procedure (MOP), installation packages, drawings, and customer standards Record test results and maintain accurate installation documentation Complete redlines, site reports, deficiency reports, and closeout documentation Coordinate with project managers, engineers, NOC personnel, and customer representatives Maintain a clean and safe work environment Follow all customer, site, electrical, safety, and telecommunications standards Qualifications Minimum 3 to 5 years of telecommunications installation experience Strong hands-on experience installing and supporting Ciena equipment Experience with Ciena optical transport, DWDM, OTN, Ethernet, or packet networking platforms Ability to independently perform Level 3 installation and troubleshooting activities Strong understanding of fibre-optic cabling and telecommunications infrastructure Experience with DC power systems, grounding, bonding, and telecom power connections Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, rack elevations, wiring diagrams, and installation packages Experience using optical power meters, fibre inspection tools, multimeters, and other telecom test equipment Understanding of SFP/SFP+/QSFP optics and fibre types Experience performing equipment turn-up, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting Comfortable working in central offices, data centres, telecom shelters, and customer facilities Strong attention to detail and documentation Ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with remote engineering and project teams Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Valid driver's licence and ability to travel to customer sites as required Ability to work evenings, weekends, maintenance windows, or overnight cutovers when required Travel out of market for up to 21 days is required Preferred Experience Experience with any of the following is considered an asset: Ciena 6500 Ciena Waveserver Ciena Waveserver Ai Ciena 3900 / 5000 Series Ciena 8100 Series DWDM and optical transport networks ROADM systems OTN Carrier Ethernet Telecom central office installation Data centre deployments Network migrations and equipment cutovers OTDR testing Fusion splicing Fibre characterization Telcordia installation standards What We Are Looking For We are looking for someone who can arrive on site, understand the installation package, identify issues before they become problems, complete the work professionally, and provide accurate documentation back to the project team. The successful candidate should be comfortable working with minimal supervision and representing the company professionally in front of customers and other contractors.

Install, rack, and cable Ciena telecommunications equipment while performing integration, testing, and commissioning activities. Responsible for troubleshooting hardware issues and maintaining accurate installation documentation and site reports.

Requires 3 to 5 years of telecommunications installation experience with specific expertise in Ciena optical transport and packet networking platforms. Must be able to read engineering drawings and be willing to travel and work flexible hours including maintenance windows.
