Position Overview
We are looking for a Material Planner to manage materials and production orders for manufacturing within the supply chain group at Calian AT & Composites. This role acts as an intermediary between project planning, engineering, purchasing, and manufacturing teams to ensure production readiness and continuity. The Material Planner is responsible for coordinating material flow, maintaining accurate schedules, and supporting multiple projects with varying scopes while balancing attention to detail with overall project success.
Responsibilities
Manage material requirements based on project demands, available inventory, and production schedules, including material transfers before and after manufacturing
Plan and release purchase requisitions for buy items and coordinate with buyers on purchase orders and expediting
Ensure bill of material changes are incorporated into structures, including work in process and work in queue for production
Manage production and project timelines and adjust schedules as needed to meet targets
Conduct stock checks and monitor material availability to ensure production readiness
Communicate potential risks or delays to stakeholders across engineering, production, and project teams
Monitor actual versus planned material consumption and plan resupply accordingly
Use planning tools such as SAP, Excel, and other systems to manage data and workflows
Provide input to improve material planning processes and overall efficiency
Perform other duties as required within the scope of the role
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; a supply chain diploma is considered an asset
Up to 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment in a hands-on or support role
Experience with material handling, inventory control, or production coordination is preferred
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with working knowledge of Word, Outlook, and Teams
Experience with ERP systems and material planning tools is considered an asset
Excellent organizational, prioritization, and multitasking abilities with strong attention to detail
Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and levels
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
A sense of urgency, adaptability, and a proactive, solutions-focused mindset
Understanding of material traceability and production processes is an asset
Additional Requirements
Ability to work fully on-site to support close collaboration with manufacturing teams, assemblers, and team leads
Capacity to manage high volumes of data, reporting, and coordination across multiple stakeholders
Compensation
$45,000 to $60,000
