The role
We are looking for a Technical Officer to support our Construction Research Center. The Technical Officer would be someone who shares our core values of Integrity, Excellence, Respect and Creativity.
The successful candidate will play an important role within a team working towards Industrialized and Digitalized Construction.
The candidate will play a key role in advancing research and operations focused on construction digitalization, robotics, digital fabrication, and data-driven performance analysis. Working within a multidisciplinary team, the Technical Officer will contribute to the design, planning, execution, and analysis of complex experiments and tests, as well as the integration, management, and interpretation of technical and operational data.
The role will also involve data collection, processing, analysis, and visualization to support digital twin development and data integration across robotics, IoT, and BIM platforms.
The Technical Officer will help establish and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) and conduct productivity, efficiency, and maturity benchmarking for industrialized construction workflows. In addition, they will support the development of real-time analytics tools that enable predictive decision-making and process optimization within the lab and partner projects.
Screening criteria

Education
College diploma in construction automation, robotics, mechatronics, or data engineering.
Additional training or certification in robotics automation, Building Information Modelling (BIM), IoT systems, or data analytics would be an asset.

Experience

Significant experience providing technical support in research, testing, or operational environments related to construction automation, robotics, or digital fabrication.

Demonstrated experience in data acquisition, integration, and analysis, including the use of sensors, IoT systems, and cloud-based data platforms.

Experience with productivity and performance benchmarking, including the use of KPIs, real-time analytics, or predictive decision-making tools.

Hands-on experience operating and maintaining laboratory or industrial equipment, such as robotic systems, automated machinery, or digital manufacturing tools.
Assets:
- Experience using BIM tools, simulation software, or digital twin environments to support design, monitoring, or process optimization.
- Experience with AI or machine learning applications for performance analysis or workflow optimization.

Candidates will be assessed on the basis of the following criteria:
Technical competencies
- Proficiency in data acquisition, integration, and analysis, including processing and visualization of experimental and operational datasets.
- Familiarity with Building Information Modelling (BIM), digital twin development, and simulation tools for industrialized construction workflows.
- Ability to perform productivity, efficiency, and maturity benchmarking using KPIs and real-time analytics to support predictive decision-making.
- Strong understanding of construction automation, robotics, and digital fabrication principles.
- Practical knowledge of hardware–software integration, including control systems, sensors, and IoT devices.
- Capability to prepare technical reports, documentation, and data visualizations for internal and external stakeholders.
- Knowledge of project planning, testing protocols, and quality assurance in research and development settings.
- Working knowledge of AI and machine learning applications for process optimization and performance analysis would be considered an asset.

Compensation
From $83,435 to $107,838 per annum.
