About the role
Overview We are seeking a Senior Project Engineer to join our engineering team in St John’s, Canada, on a full-time, permanent basis. Our Engineers play a key role in delivering complex offshore and subsea projects. As a Senior Project Engineer, you’ll provide technical knowledge across project execution, tendering, engineering studies, vessel operations, and offshore activities, ensuring safe, efficient, and effective project delivery. Working within multidisciplinary teams, you'll develop engineering solutions, support project planning, and provide technical guidance throughout the project lifecycle. This role offers a mix of office, site, vessel, and offshore work. Key experience includes:
Onshore fabrication and construction methods Subsea construction and IRM activities Rigging and seafastening engineering Pre-commissioning operations Vessel motion response principles Fabrication and construction contracting, with solid commercial understanding
Ideal candidates will bring offshore or subsea engineering experience, effective problem-solving skills, and readiness to travel offshore as required.What will you be doing? This is a diverse and practical role offering involvement across the full project lifecycle. Key responsibilities include: Onshore
Developing engineering procedures, installation methodologies, and technical documentation. Conducting risk assessments, HAZIDs and task planning, collaborating with clients and subcontractors. Designing and overseeing the fabrication, testing and certification of offshore installation aids and equipment. Performing engineering analyses to ensure the safe execution of offshore activities. Selecting and managing offshore equipment, ensuring compliance with industry standards and project requirements. Supporting tendering activities, project variations, and commercial deliverables. Mentoring and developing junior engineers.
Offshore
Support vessel mobilisations and offshore project execution. Deliver technical briefings, toolbox talks and operational guidance to offshore teams. Provide real-time engineering support and manage changes to approved procedures. Work closely with vessel crews, clients, and contractors to ensure safe and efficient operations. Monitor project progress, document key activities, and support contractual and commercial requirements. What experience would we like you to have? Degree in Engineering, Marine, Naval Architecture, Offshore Technology, Civil or Mechanical Engineering, or a comparable discipline. Experience in a Project Engineer role focused on IRM and Subsea Construction projects is essential. This should include site and offshore based experience. Good commercial understanding and cost awareness within SURF projects. Effective interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate and interface effectively across all levels of the organisation. Capable of working on their own as well as collaboratively within a team. Experienced in producing clear and accurate technical documentation, including offshore method statements and operational procedures. Demonstrates effective organisational skills, with the ability to manage priorities and deliver work within agreed deadlines.
